this looks like a great car on paper.. Excellent price to performance ratio. The best anywhere. I suspect this will kill a lot of Supra/Z4 sales among others. Could also eat in to the hallowed Mustang market. A fully optioned Mustang GT is close to $60k. Why would anyone want one of those over the new Corvette? There isn't enough back seat in the Mustang for that to be an advantage. No wonder Chevy is killing off the Camaro.

If it looked like this, I'd buy one.

A 991.2 GT3, despite costing roughly twice as much as a C7 Corvette Z06, will have similar costs of ownership over the course of 3 years. That being said, I'd take the Porsche any day over the C7 Vette. This C8 is a game-changer for GM though. If it turns out as good as it appears it will be, the C8 will retain its value better and will sell like hotcakes, deservedly so. Nice job GM for finally listening to their customer base and giving them what they ask for. I really look forward for the C8 Z06 in 2021.

I doubt Acura will sell any more new NSX's starting next year.

So many haters on this forum nowadays without seeing or driving the new C8. Some snobs even bring up the price point for super car bla bla bla. Anyway, I think GM make a huge gamble going mid-engine and at that price point they make a believer out of me. Huge congrats to GM and hopefully the millennials love it too. I personally waiting the GS convertible and add one to the garage. I’ve been waiting the 718 Spyder and C8 over a year and I think the C8 won in this case. Regardless I always have one 911 in the garage.

I wonder if it's really going to have no tire/fender gap like that or the base model one is going to have a big gap.

I really wonder if the design team actually think this looks appealing, or they were forced to cut so many corners, this is the best they could do. Many renders looked so much better.

I hope they put a cooler or two on it. It would be shame for another fail - I know a lot of people who will never try a corvette again after the debacle with the Z06.

Looks like a GT4 + 300 lbs for half the price, too bad no manual.

FYI: The particular rendering is for a car equipped with the Z51 track package, the Z51 package will include a height adjustable coilover suspension based on the info provided by GM.

There are photos of pre production models without camouflage, there is definitely a wheel gap on the plain vanilla version of the C8.

My guess is that it will be mid-engined as well, but that, along with some exterior aesthetics, will be the only commonality between it and the street car.

Has anyone heard any discussion about a manual transmission coming in the near future? The Chevy Corvette has always offered one so it didn't even cross my mind to ask whether one will be offered in the C8...

Not loving the Camaro look rear end and the lack of a manual transmission. Will see how the car develops over the next few years plus see how these early versions hold up.

I truly am blown away. They somehow managed to throw out the entire Corvette rule book yet still make something that is true to its heritage and is identifiably a Corvette. Even the new interior looks great. If GM can deliver on improving the build quality and dealership experience I'm going to have to give the Z06/ZR1 version a serious look as my 991.1 GTS replacement. A hypothetical fully loaded 750 hp Z06 in the sub $150k range would be something that would seriously tempt a lot of 911 buyers. I've never owned an American car and have loved every Porsche I've ever owned but I spent an hour on the Corvette configurator already. Multiple non car people I know talked about it at work or texted me about it today. They absolutely nailed the design and the reveal but now need to follow through and execute.

I don’t think the C8 will have any impact on the 992. The biggest impact I see is on the used NSX, R8, and Maclaren market. If I were in the market for one of those, it would be hard to pass up a new with warranty equivalent mid engine that can be serviced at the local Chevy dealer.

The only transmission offered in the stingray is an automatic. There might be a manual in future iterations, but nothing is definitive. I wouldn't rule it out, but it doesn't look good for the manual transmission hopeful.
