Thoughts on the new corvette?

Hell No
Nothing about the C8 says "Corvette" to me. I think it's ugly as sin. The initial performance stats are impressive but as anyone who's owned a Corvette before knows you need to wait and see how it shakes out. I've owned many Corvettes and I think the last good looking 'vette was the C6 Z06/ZR1. I was not a fan of the C7 and am really not a fan of the C8 styling. The rear end is butt ugly and the side vent accents look out of place. Corvette has almost always been a great value but it's still a GM and suffers from GM disease. I will keep my 997.1 TT thank you.

I like the design. Seems like good value. I'd probably only consider the Z06, for all the go-fast bits. As a tall guy, I have found older Vettes to be a little cramped compared to the 911 - - I'd need to sit in one for a while.
Would I buy one? Don't know. As irrational as it is, the 911 shape/history speaks to me - - loved it since I was a pup. But in terms of performance for the dollar, the Corvette seems pretty compelling.
It also makes me happy for the USA (no political views implied or results attributed). It's really great to see good automobiles being made here. The American cars of my youth (70s-90s) were truly dreadful relative to what the Germans were making at the time. But it's a much closer race these days, and I like it. Corvettes, Mustangs, Raptors and more - - there's some good American cars available these days.

Does it come with a gold chain and a wash and wear suit ?
No?
Obviously Chevy doesn't know their base.

Did the C2S you drove have RAS? I'd guess not. Makes a big difference. I say this having driven a RAS T at PEC Atl two weeks ago. Also have a Boxster GTS that I track and autocross, so I certainly know how it responds. Plus I have a non-RAS 991.2, and can tell you not having RAS is a significant difference.

I was in it earlier today. Most everyone in the US is home now. I imagine there are literally millions (if not tens of millions) of people around the world playing with the configurator every hour just to check it out

I’m sure it’ll be a performer and definitely lots of awesome for the money. Design-wise, it definitely doesn’t scream corvette for good or bad. I think the wheels need to be larger to look more proportional. The rear is messy and looks too Camaro. Otherwise, looking forward to seeing these around.

I had a C7 and did not like it so I will withhold judgement until I drive one, which I will soon albeit I like my Targa too much to get rid of it for the C8, at least for a couple years. Some people's blinders only allow them to see one make, which is fine, but based on what I am seeing/hearing so far they have to be commended for what they came up with for the money, and if someone disagrees they are not being truthful.
