Agree, in the end car enthusiasts win whether an individual buys the car or not For $60k, its still a pricey point of entry for majority of folks, but for those who do buy it, I'm sure they'll get something they're happy - hopefully promotes some interesting stuff from other manufacturers

Can’t beat the price and pound for pound performance no matter how you sum it up. Not a Corvette guy but you have to tip your glass. You will spend more on a sub-par M3/4.

Chevy / GM thought about this for a while.

Zora had a mid engine in mind soon after he had spooned a V8 into the Corvette and ridded himself of the soft Euro sports car blahoo of the day.

I tend to agree with the fussiness of the design comments but I nevertheless like it. I particularly think that higher wing on the blue car balances out the profile nicely from a macro view. I assume that is part of an option package that we didn't see in the big reveal last night?

I for one, will be waiting out the first year bugs, but if they get the cooling issues resolved this new C8 has the potential to sit atop the SuperCar world!. Something the front engined car and lack luster interiors never could.

I'm just saying you should be proud of what it (seems) they've accomplished, and most the other responses confirm, overall this car is very well received.

That was the quoted dry weight. Curb weight is estimated to be 3600 lbs.

Don't understand the negativity, I think its great GM are continuing to invest in building low cost, high performance sports cars. the more choice the better, the current C7 platform is great, I have a Grand Sport and its a lot of fun on the street and on track. I personally like the C8 styling, rear a bit awkward perhaps. The Z06 is going to be real competition for the RS!

I'm definitely intrigued, though would only want one of the more extreme models. They keep mentioning the 0-60 time, but that's more of a slight of hand with rear weight bias, DCT, and low 1st gear. The small brakes make the car look cheap, and the likely 3,500lb actual curb weight is less than ideal. Just hoping the upper models don't get too bloated. This platform looks like it has serious potential, but I would be surprised if GM doesn't manage to squander it.

I think a great change for Corvette and GM and welcome it. Looks good, especially for the price point. Won't know the real quality until I sit in one. Would be very interested in the more powerful track versions probably to come (Z06 and ZR1). Will certainly be a contender to consider but would be warry of buying year one production of something this big of a change for GM.

New duel clutch trans and new engine position. I hope they got it all worked out.

I like the exterior. Not sure I want to be first in line though.

Time will tell on this. Probably never trade in my 997.1 TT for one of these.

Keeping exotics light is only possible with expensive exotic materials, I don’t think corvette has the budget or the clientele
too achieve 3000-3200 pound car!

The car is cheap vs RS shells, but some spend 60k on upgrades can’t deny cost to performance ratios. All can’t drop 200k on a car.

With all the bailout $$ and eventual BK gm got on the backs of taxpayers, we should all be given one.

Until that happens, PASS!
