0-60 in 2.8 and the big engines haven't even been "played" yet.

Per MT: "Severe understeer will help prevent the overeager owners from pulling a Mustang exit at their local cars and coffee."

If you read the MT article where they name the C8 Corvette their COTY, they back way off the ‘severe understeer’ claim.

Hard to "un-ring" a bell. C&D mentioned understeer too. I've been driving understeering 911's for 40 years!

Are you serious? The only way that a 992 will compete with a C8 Z06 will be on price. I do lots of HPDEs, especially at Watkins Glen, and the C7 Z06 in capable hands is very competitive with my 991 GT3. The mid-engined C8Z06 will use a naturally aspirated engine that will supposedly rev to 8600 rpm and develop in excess of 650 HP, which is over 200 HP more than the 992S. So I don't see the 992 being competitive with the C8 Z06, unless the 992 has a GT suffix.

I like it. I am very seriously considering getting one. I will keep my current fun cars and get one (probably replace my GTi) and it'll split DD / fun daily duties with my 991TT (which I love). I dont get haters of other marques. Its down to the C8 or Boxster Spyder for the next fun option. I have configured one to $85K Z51 package.I don't care what anyone else thinks - I like it

The same for the cost of maintenance.

I ordered a 2LT, NPP exhaust, upgraded GT2 seats, red brake calipers....$71,075

A McLaren look a like that won't need $50k in repairs and service before it hits 20k miles too.

Having owned a Targa where you had a special wrench to remove the top, this thing is just a joy and explains some of the cost of the car. The engine, the chassis and the tranny are just marvels as well. All that plastic? Hello, it's a performance car--weight matters! A lot of guys were grousing over the plastic oil pan as if Porsche did it to be cheap--not at all, in fact, brilliant. But I digress...

I drove a top end Camaro a few years ago as a rental and was literally shocked at how cheap and flimsy the interior was. Now I wonder if, coming off of a Porsche, I'll have the same feeling about the C8. They HAD to cut costs somewhere and their attempts at cheap labor blew up in their faces.
Did you really compare a rental fleet Camaro to a Porsche? And because you owned an archaic targa that required a specialized wrench, not needing a wrench to remove a targa top is magic?

CONGRATULATIONS! FANTASTIC! Good for you, could have bought a pair for what I lost in the market today,
HAVE FUN! That's what most people miss here. Many people believe Chevy popped this out over the last couple of years, this is about ten years plus of engineering here and no matter what one says, for way under a 100K you're going to blast anything off the road or track and look great. Doubt anyone will even see the bowtie, and if they do, they will learn to respect it. I got a 911 C4S, but surely will be behind the wheel of one of these soon. Drove the top of the line 2018 Z06 and was quite impressed for $125K. About snapped my neck off and would break 210 MPH (I did not). It's about the excitement, not an old Chevy and Ford high school argument.
Please give us some updates and photos!

I had a 16 black on black c7 z06, and the car was just amazing. The power and handling were out of this world, and it was very easy to daily. Had some track time with the z06, and it was amazing what the car was capable of. They really did fix a lot of the fit and finish issues that plagued the c5/6 corvettes.

The c8 seems like a win, but I just can't get myself to buy a dual clutch. I have rowed gears for my entire life, and want to continue doing so. There are rumors of the mid cycle z06 releasing a manual, and I will purchase one then. There will be a market for a fast manual transmission, and I would happily pay a premium for that option.
