These may be the articles. It appears some of the initial negative reviews were later "upgraded" to read more positive.

IMHO, at best.. the reviews are mixed and many are left wondering why built-in under-steer is necessary for a mid-engine car on super grippy tires.
Even with the intentional under-steer (disabled?), why is it breaking lose and sliding around like that?
Another point being made by most of the reviewers is the "cost of the car as tested".. $85K for the Z51 w/Performance Pkg + other stuff.
Many people are surprised to now hear this $85K number being made part of the factual record..and they're asking "so what do you get for $60K"?
Cuz that's awfully close to $90K and will obviously go higher for the future variants GS, Z06 and ZR1. Seems like $150K is possible.
The C8 v.s. [insert other car here] comparisons are morphing. Even in this thread there's now talk about comparing it to the Cayman.
Which makes sense to me (being mid-engine n' all).
Coupled with serious consumer fatigue from all the marketing-hype, the general public appears to have said "meh".
Especially with the big reveal of the Convertible a few weeks ago. Nobody cared.
Personally, I think the initial reports about the Tremec DCT are good.. but still have no information about the effects of the AFM on this DCT (and stress test results over time).
Add to all of that THE GM WORKERS STRIKE.. The C8 has gone from a paper tiger to limited track kitty to a stuffed animal (for now).
Cool, thanks for passing that along.

But I along with a few friends have owned both a Corvette and a 911 at the same time. Since I'm not fortunate enough to have limitless resources, I have found that tracking a Corvette is far, far less expensive than tracking a 911. I'm not in the market for the base C8 but the Z06 version may be tempting. The only concern I have is that the C8 is so dam heavy. Driving a nearly 3700 lb car at the limits will be quite challenging on both the driver and the tires. I know that I'm preaching to the choir, since a large percentage of Rennlisters track their cars, and they know the advantages of light weight cars in corners. Here's a video which illustrates my point. Despite a 70 HP deficit, the GT4 eventually passes the C7 and the C8 is much heavier than a C7.

A Corvette and a 911 might be good stablemates, but not as a substitute for the other.
It's not an either/or proposition, but more of a and proposition.

this is interesting. didn't make sense that a 495hp car can do 11 qt mi in the 120s. but 650 na hp? that's really crazy.

C8 37xx/495 hp
991.2 C2GTS 33xx/450 hp
The lbs per hp ratios are practically the same, hence the performance numbers closely match each other.

gtr with 600 hp, dct, and most importantly awd does the same 11 at 125. i didnt expect c8 shy 100 hp, only 300 lbs lighter to be as fast just because its mid engine. but guess it is.

Ah, the old "Slip the magazines a ringer" strategy. Next up: front-loading 80% of the throttle opening into the first 20% of pedal travel, for that classic GM zing!

Not sure what articles and videos you all been reading/watching. "bloated", "numb", "sedan". I must be watching different videos. this thing looks amazing and will get into the shorts of some would be P car GT buyers that are tired of all the ADM game playing BS and can actually obtain what appears to be a very worthy car.
The understeer is very disappointing. And the lateral grip is embarrassing for a car with such sticky tires. A 2015 Panamera GTS has the same grip and that has far inferior tires. The figure 8 for the C8 was also embarrassing.
I said since day 1- this car is no ballerina.
GM is clearly funding the magazine hype machine right now, as usual with Vettes, but it’s clear this car in actuality is falling short of said hype.

Well, the car is noted to be heavy and large in footprint. The steering is said to have very little feel- less than a 992 and Porsche electric steering isn’t exactly known to be full of feel (maybe the 992 is a further improvement). And they literally say it rides so smooth and quiet that it feels like a premium sport sedan. More quiet and smooth than a 992 which is astonishing as turbo era Carreras are known to be extremely quiet and imo too smooth and isolated. The C8 is reportedly even more isolated. Which says a lot for a car with a naturally aspirated V8 right behind your head. With that weight, size and isolation, it won’t exactly be a canyon carver special.

Neither I nor you have ever driven a C8. So its premature to say that it is falling short of the hype at this time. Motor Trend compared the C8 to a 992S, and FWIW they gave the nod to the C8.. I've priced a 992S and my modest build exceeded $130K. That is more than $50K than a nicely equipped C8. Maybe $50K is no big deal to you, but it is to me. So a 992S would have to be a hell of a lot better than a C8, for me to pay the $50K premium.

and if you go back to the beginnings of the 992 review post, you will remember how much complaining there was about the 992 being too much of a grand touring car compared to 991. its the natural evolution for sports cars. they will get more and more comfortable with each successive version. as long as the gt3 and z06 put the sporting ability as priority, its ok. im glad that a base c8 is comfortable.

One of the things you'll learn about Porsche as you grow more conversant with their modern cars is that they really, really, really need competition.
I don't envision owning a C8 myself -- it's not my kind of ride -- but I'm certainly rooting for it to succeed. In the best of all possible worlds, Porsche would begin a new project by purchasing a Corvette and taking it apart with a screwdriver, just like GM does with a Porsche every time they start work on a new Corvette.
