The drama of the day has now moved to "size". Nobody is saying the C8 is a small sports car. Neither is the 992.

As a package deal with performance, looks, and PRICE $ it's a winner.

Value:
C8 $
992 $$$$$

The buyers will decide ....
Relax

No one is raining on your C8 love parade.

It's an interesting car. No doubt.

Just commenting on something I noticed vis-a-vis the 911. Cuz, you know, most of us here actually own a 911 of some sort, and are comparing cars. Thought it might be helpful, and relevant.

Sorry, didn't mean to rain on your comments. I'm just posting the numbers and facts as well.

You already have a 992?

Spoken like a true car enthusiast.

GM is not the only company that likes to make money.... Porsche is second to only Ferrari in profits per car.
According to Bloomberg, the company (Porsche) made an average of $17,000 in profit on each of the 238,000 cars it sold last year.

Likely under agreement with GM.
???

I talked to the track foreman at Spring Mountain last week. We are friends, and he told me that he was surprised that they have NOT had any C8s at the track yet.

Yes, GM put Michelin pilot sport 4S tires on the car which are slow compared to Cup tires. I've driven the MPS4s tires on the track and they are not as quick, but they last forever, which some people like. If you want to go faster there are plenty of tires available which are faster, but they will last only a few days on the track.

Couldn't agree more. Not sure how many current 911 owners could fit comfortably in my 1970 911E.
Of all the Porsches I've owned over the decades, my 981S is one of my favorites for driving on the street: adequate power, superb handling, and nicely styled, interior and exterior. Also, you don't have to spend a ton of money to own one.

Interesting thread...I'm laughing at the criticism and excuses to hate what's essentially a bargain naturally aspirated mid engine car.
I'll be the first to wince at its overall dimensions, awkward rear end or weight.
Personally, I buy the engine in a car...all else is secondary...and the engine better be naturally aspirated, as such 992s or non-GT 991.2s are out of the equation.

Other than the Corvair, how much experience does GM have with rear engine cars? I'm assuming if they had the handling worked out they would already have them in the hands of reviewers. Might be wise to get through the Beta testing period before buying one.

The C8 is mid-engine; the 911 is rear-engine - there is a difference.

NNnnnoo. Seriously??!! Oh, this is bad.

I was told this was a pic of four C8's being delivered to Spring Mountain. Kinda looks like the AZ landscape, but I guess it could be a rest-stop anywhere.

N' now the Track Foreman says they haven't received any??

BAD SIGN.

The 981 ticks all the boxes except low end torque (if that matters of course).

Will eventually be regarded as the 993 of Caymans I suspect.

Ferrari’s number, as usual,is not to be trusted as they include profits from merchandise, amusement parks, F1/engines in their profit per car number. If you did the same thing for Porsche or stripped it away from ferrari, Porsche makes more profit per car (apples to apples).
