I owned a (supercharged) Miata for 10 years, but never mind that.
If it's so easy to sell an LT1-equipped Miata as a well-rounded, regulation-compliant, and commercially-viable sports car, then by all means, please gather up some investors and make it happen. I'll even order the first one.
Not clear what your point is here. I came to praise the C8, not to bury it. It's going to be a great car; it's just not what I personally want.
Haven't owned any Ferraris since the 308, or driven any since the F355, so that's, um, great, I guess.
Flyin' Miata (https://www.flyinmiata.com/V8/index.php) has been around a long time and they are far from a science experiment. Geez, I have never seen one group of car owner's that are as out of touch with other brands more than P-car owners are.

Couldn't care less about what Ferrari owners think or why they buy their cars. 99% of "supercar" purchases are mostly about status signalling and ego boosting ("Finally managed to put my a$$ into a car like this!"), and have little to do with driving, apart from stoplight to stoplight drag-races which get old after the age of 16. A $60k GM product won't signal much status regardless of its performance numbers.

The F430 came out in 2004, when the 986 Boxster was still current. Checking the stats, the Boxster was 200 pounds lighter, 8 inches shorter, and 5 inches narrower.
So, if someone who actually drove both of them said that the F430 felt like a pig in comparison, I wouldn't be inclined to argue with them. I don't know of many cars that wouldn't "feel like a pig" if I just stepped out of a 986... heck, including my own 981.

Note that at the time that I drove the Cayman R PDK I also had a track prepped Cayman R 6MT sitting at home as a real reference point. Started looking at F458's after getting back home, never got around to pull the trigger since sanity kicked in. Ended up ordering a MCS suspension for the R, but ended up selling the R getting ready for a GT4 that never materialized.

It does appear that as more time goes by the bar for comparison gets lower and lower.
Hell, maybe after a few tasty mods the Cayman will be a contender too!
Yeah there's something about the soul of the Viper. Right now I'm loving having both the Cayman and the Viper in the stable.. they complement one another a lot.
No as a matter of fact I don't realize that and you shouldn't either.
You can't look at a bunch of numbers on a piece of paper and immediately assume it means total domination in every instance.
Events on the street are very spontaneous/organic. When its ON its ON.
Oh so now they need mods in order to perform? Got it.
Yea the Viper is modded (plenty). Currently running a bit shy of 700hp. But I have everything I need to put her back over the 700 pony mark.
She's kind of a GenIV - GenV - ACR hybrid.
It's also possible that it works out like this:
Agreed.
If I were in a new C8 I wouldn't be testing out the launch control with the new DCT until AFTER others have tried and not died and/or blown up the transmission.
I recently watched
of an auto-journalist testing the Taycan where his job for the day was to test launch control over and over again.. all day long.
Haven't heard of, or seen anything like that for the C8.

It's also possible that it works out like this:
I leave 'em spinning their wheels in a fit. Just like I've done with a number of C7s. If they had Traction Control..a lot of good it did 'em.
It might be a cloud of tire smoke and burn from those poor dual clutches having the living crap beat out of 'em by the launch control.

N' then they slide off the road somewhere with the transmission pre-loading gears in both directions +/- back and forth.

RL: the C8 bashing literally can't get any sillier ala muh torsional rigidity, but muh Koenigsegg, but muh GT2RS etc.
Also RL: hold my beer:
But muh Taycan launch control!

I hope the C8 is reliable, it will be a huge success.
Even if it takes a few years to work out any possible bugs it will still be a winner, especially the variants.
I was looking at the used F430s out there and given their specs and costs of maintenance one must wonder why anyone would opt for that over say a C8 GS or Z06.

Ferrari has always been around 3-4x the price of a comparably performing Corvette, and Porsche has always been 1.5-2.5x the price of a comparably performing Corvette. Depreciation alters the economics of the European brands somewhat, but in the end, you buy a Ferrari if you want a Ferrari, Porsche if you want a Porsche, and Corvette if you want a Corvette.

I have a tenant who is sales for the local Chevy dealer. We chatted a bit, and I put my order in yesterday. I've owned an ancient Corvette in my youth, also had a Ferrari, older Lambo, many Porsches. This will be my first new car in 37 years. I'm a cheap bastage, and when I heard 'mid-engine', then '3 second 0-60 time', then '$67,000 OTD' configured as I like - it was no brainer(you may consider that a meme if you like).
I've decided on sunburst orange, with as little carbon look as possible. With the Z51 perf package, and nose lift. I'll get the extended warranty as it's first model year. Hate all you want, I'm going to have a shyteload of fun with it.
