HI everyone, I recently got a 2014 958 base from a friend and may be also joining the failed TC club. With mine, I've noticed that it feels like I'm driving on rumble strips up until ~50mph and I'm assuming that it's a TC issue based on everyone's experience here (or I just need to get wheels balanced). A new thing I noticed today is that the entire car shudders when I'm turning at a low speed. So, I'm just wondering if it is my TC and if I should just change the TC fluid/take it to porsche for a warranty.
Take it to Porsche BEFORE changing the fluid.. Changing the fluid often fixes things, but given the option since you're showing solid transfer-case failure symptoms - I'd go for the new free transfer case from Porsche.
great thing that the PNA got the transfer case recall going on. In India no joy. it was very tough to source the recommended revenol TC fluid so got my hands on a genuine BMW transfer case fluid. seems to work perfectly fine now. i believe that unless you are experiencing severe jerk issues the TC can be restored just with flushing of oil.
mine is a 2014 Caynenne S deisel.
chandanYOGI I'm envious of your car!
I would love to have that model.
But back to the transfer case.
Are there __any__ clutches in the diesel transfer case?
Are there wires/connectors to a diesel transfer case?
I was under the impression that the diesel has a Torsen differential in the transfer case.
That its a wholly mechanical transfer and not the "active" clutch system that has problems.
(which I admittedly do not understand yet)

Yes.
No.
Correct.
Correct; it's reactive versus active.
Just a quick update. Took it to porsche today and was told that the TC will need to be changed due to the shuddering issue. Also, got quoted a "line A" due to car shake whenever I hit 40 mph. Probably a wheel balancing issue. Thanks everyone in this thread.
Still no. I was promised EoM by Epiq. If I don’t have a check I’m escalating to Porsche USA. I sent mine in in September and have been getting nothing but empty promises and turnarounds by Epiq’s garbage workforce.
Anybody ever get paid for their out of pocket repair cost yet?
I filled out the form with receipts and proof of ownership but nothing back from anyone yet and that was back in October I believe.
Thanks,
Mike
I filed a claim with all the paperwork 9/17/2020. The site says it will take 10 - 12 weeks for a response.
I sent a follow up email 12/31/2020.
Received a response 1/8/2021
"Thank you for your email.
We can confirm that we have received your claim. All claims are in process and we will contact you if we need more information.

Well, I waited an extra week b/c I know the post office is being slow but I still don't have my check (despite it being promised by EoJanuary). It's now been 21 weeks since I submitted my claim, and I haven't seen a dime. This is getting ridiculous.
I just got off the phone with them again and this time they said that they saw my claim was approved, and that it was supposed to be sent out by end of January, but that "we have no idea when payments will actually be mailed." At least "we're clueless" is honest, but I'm left with no choice but to escalate.
I've emailed my dealer to see if they have a contact @ PCNA that is responsible for this (I have good rapport over there). If they don't, I'm going to do some sleuthing and escalate to PCNA myself.
I did a couple fluid changes back in 2017 along with my diffs and the nut crunching on left hand turn went away and the 2-3 shift shutter was minimized and I lived with it. My dealer never acknowledged the problem even under CPO so I was SOL after CPO expired.
I took it back in yesterday given the warranty extension, they assessed it and called me back today. They will replace it! Finally! I reported it every time I took it in and they will finally do something. My 2011 CTT has 99,000miles and the 10 year mark will be next month. Good timing.
I will be dumping my Turbo S. before the 10 year period..........this is completely ridiculous........waiting on a refund..............begging Porsche to extend warranty.........
Adding mine to the list of Transfer Case replacements.
2011 Cayenne S with 77K miles. TC was original on the car, but noticed increased groaning/shuddering recently. Took about a day for dealer to diagnose and replace.
