Ok, thanks. If you had regular gas engine, you would have used the DTF 1?

If I’ve understood correctly, the gasoline V6, V8 and diesel V8, all with “active TC”, use DTF-1. The cars with Torsen, ie. diesel V6 and hybrid, use gear oil.

That's what I needed to know. Thanks!

I wanted to thank everyone on this forum for let me know about the transfer case issue. If it had not been for this forum I would have been paying massive amount of money. I got my 2017 Porsche Cayenne Platinum transfer case changed. I took in total about 2 weeks to get done but they gave me a loaner during the entire time so I did not notice the time. I only have 40K on it and 4 years. Not that it is out of the shop it is running much better and thank GOD I know what to look for. Much appreciated RENNLIST.

I bought a 2015 CTT CPO in February and I'm now getting the same thumps when going up my driveway so I made an appointment with.my local Porsche dealership. Unfortunately, they don't have an available date until end of July but that should be OK. I'm glad I read through this thread.

Are there any part numbers to check that would say whether you got the redesigned part? Otherwise this is going to be a yearly affair

Transfer case replaced Monday on 2017 GTS with 43k miles. What a difference. It was getting really jerky, especially stop and go traffic and all shifts were hard.

now, everything is smooth, all shifts. Big improvement

I also reported some vibration, think exaggerate acorn effect, ie occurred at max steering input and going forward or reverse, this is gone now too.

And now at 37k I may be headed for another one. It's doing something similar again. Though this time it feels more like a slipping during straight-line acceleration. Noticeable at slow speeds, but also during a downshift for passing. It's not a wheel slipping, it's something 'in the driveline' slipping. Traction is fine, and RPMs aren't bouncing like you'd get from a miss or injector issue.

Upside is I'm due for an engine oil change so they'll be able to get that done at the same time.

How many miles on your last replacement, and what year was that prior replacement performed?

I had the original one replaced at 15k miles in June 2018. As per my post here.

Do you know what software version you are currently at, to know if you currently have the most updated case? If it was replaced in 2018 it's probably not the newest type.

Default Will Porsche replace TC if no current issues? Time's running out

Hi I'm about to purchase a 2013 Cayenne GTS with <40K miles, but the transfer case warranty expires 12/2022 and from what I see, usually goes between 40-70K miles. A few question which may have been answered in part on this thread but I didn't find them:

Will a Porsche dealer replace it without significant issues?
Should I be concerned about this purchase?
No service records available for car. Is there some way to check with Porsche if prior owner had it replaced under warranty?
Can a generic/non-specialist mobile prepurchase inspector tell? (the Porsche Dealers near this dealer don't do prepurchase inspections, they say for liability reasons).

Thanks for any insights!!!

Don't know what was in there. There's a new one in there now and my issues are gone. Supposedly the warranty has been upped to 100k miles on these.

Hey Bill,... Long time to catch up (yes I still have my 2012 CTT. Are you still in your Sapphire Blue?).

Thanks for posting that above ^^.

My 10 yr Transfer case warranty extension expires next July 2022, but I still only have 76k miles on the CTT. And I was one of the folks who never received the original letter from Porsche giving me the 10yr extension.....

So question for ya:... Are you saying that Porsche has now gone from the 10yr, to a full 100k mileage delineation for the warranty extension?

I'm on my 3rd TC, so getting another 24k miles would be a good thing for me. Although, I just received my 3rd TC earlier this Spring, so this TC may actually last just slightly longer than the 24k miles I would have left.

Thanks,
=Steve
