Only a guess, but I bet the owner was looking for a good $10k-15k more. Not saying it's right or even reasonable, but clearly a case of a guy valuing the car at a price out of line with what the people who had money to spend on 8/12/21 thought the car was worth. Will be interesting to see if this car is listed on Pcar over the next couple of months.
This might be off (I haven't watch Pcar recently) don't cars on Pcar usually sell for slightly less then BAT? I feel like I was tracking both for a while before getting mine.

The only other route I would go for 3 pedal sports car might be an Aston.

Not the most exciting spec maybe but should still do well I'd think.
Went for $135k, pretty strong result. But I'm also here to post an interesting throwback I found, a 6spd coupe with PCCBs and Sport Seats and 13k miles that went for just $73k after fees in 2016. (Plus you could write it off as a charity donation.) Kind of a "how it started vs how it's going" thing.

That is encouraging. I have about the same car. Albeit a 2007 with 25k miles with sport adaptive seats, factory short shifter and just plain black.

If I'm not mistaken the one you linked had a rodent problem at some point.. maybe not the best example of that car's value at that time if condition was equal but point taken nontheless.

30k mile 2012 TTS Cab sells on BaT for $113k including fees. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...911-turbo-s-6/

Making me feel pretty good about paying under 81 for a 42k mile car... Platinum/Terracotta with PCCBs. Not sure if it's just narcissism, or pride. I won't say I'm never selling, but I can't imagine why I would. When I press the go pedal and the speedtech roars in my ears, I'm smiling like a kid in a candy store, without fail.

I didn't see a 997 Turbo for sale thread besides this one, but Switchcars has this one incoming. Guards on Natural Brown Leather.

Beautiful midnight blue metallic Turbo:

Some tasteful mods with minor paintwork but no reserve so it could be interesting.

I absolutely love the color combo. Wonder if that's enough to overcome the poverty spec build and obvious blemishes that the car has. Will be an interesting one to follow

i keep seeing references to poverty spec both here and in the comments on auction threads. question is, how many cars are generally optioned better than this one? i am by no means an expert and have only been browsing ads/actions for about about year leading up to my purchase in june but i feel it’s incredibly rare to see many cars posted that stickered for much more the $130k mark.

Agree, if I had to guess I'd say the average Turbo was specced to around $135k (a few mild niceties + Sport Chrono).

I personally don't care if a car has a bunch of cosmetic options added to it; but those cars tend to bring bigger $ in auctions. Look at the build sheet for the car that was just posted on p-car mart, compared to the blue one - there's plenty out there with a bunch more boxes checked. It's a Porsche, so there are a bajillion different options. People like deviated stitching, extra panels painted, carbon fiber, etc not to mention stuff that really jacks the price like PCCB's and LWBs. You just don't see the relatively lower optioned cars pulling the bigger $ at auctions unless they have something else going for them like crazy low miles. Run the VIN's on the last several 997TT's that ran through BAT - most have more options than the blue one.

Personally, I'll take Midnight Blue metallic on sand over a say a black/black car with $15k more options all day since that blue/sand color combo is ****

I had to bring my poverty spec 130K sticker 997 Turbo to a respectable level in the eyes of the BaT commenters by adding PCCB's and GT2 LWB.

I'm just trying to be like this guy:

I think it did alright, given the mods and condition. This comment by the winning bidder had me
