This actually sold for a lower price than I thought it would go for. Market adjusting back or end of summer timing?

I think It’s just one sale not meeting what some would have expected. BAT is strange, if there’s two or three people interested in a car and maybe one has a meeting go over a bit longer and can’t bid, another guy ends up being busy and then there’s only one guy seriously bidding that instantly means the price is considerably lower than you’d expect. Luckily in Ohio I’m able to look at VIN’s of cars for sale and then look up the actual selling price after they sell. I tend to use that to gauge the market instead of BAT listings.

Also keep in mind that car will have a $5K buyers premium added. Also while low miles are appreciated, when you start getting over $130k for a 997.2 Turbo S, I think some will start looking for other cars. So this seems market correct. I’d have expected about $120-125k.

Yeah at $130k you are in 991.1 tts territory, although some may still prefer the more analog and smaller 997.2 tts

I would have to say 997.2 tts is better then 991.1 tts.

Now the 991.2 tts is a different story. You get a lot more.

Actually could be the case for all 997.2 and 991.1 models.

These three have all been listed here and sold in the last month. What makes the last one special enough to command a $40k premium over the others? Or is this just the result of auction bidding (several wanting one car vs. one wanting one car)?

Mileage is a big one, it had a fair amount of options, and there's an element of luck when it comes to auctions. There's no limit to how much a car can sell for on an auction. If you happen to get the right people in an auction at the right time, you could see some surprising results. No guarantee that the last black car would still sell for $130k if it went up for auction today.

And one of the auction results you linked to was from Cars and Bids. I can only speculate, but I think some sites attract big(er) money than others. BAT sells cars into the million dollar range. When I briefly looked at C&B earlier in the year, most cars seemed to be under $100k.

Default 2008 997 TT Cab - Value Advice

Hello - quick question to re value as it looks like you guys follow the 997 market quiet closely. What are your thoughts on 2008 997 TT Cab, Basalt black over cocoa, PCCB, Sports Chrono, limited slip, hard top, 19k miles no paint work, dealer maintained. Second owner. New Pilot Sports and TMPS. The only mod is the professionally installed radar detector by the original owner with sensors on the front bumper and rear license plate - fully functional and probably outdated. Please let me know what you think- I really appreciate your advice.

I inconveniently omitted that it’s a 6 speed manual and can’t seem to be able to edit the initial post. 😳

I'm not up on Cabs, but if you're thinking of selling, I'd look into BAT if you're not in a hurry...Probably takes 4-5 weeks wait to get through their process and your car go Live. I sold my 308 there and it went very well.

Your car sounds like a great spec. I bet it'd do well.

I have to agree, your car sounds very nice and should bring very good money should you choose to sell. Of course, I'm in the all-sports-cars-should-be-convertibles camp. But you have great colors, equipment, low mileage, & a hardtop! Check out the current sale prices and market trends for the 997.1 Turbo Cabriolets here: Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet - Manual - 997.1 Market - CLASSIC.COM

Thank you very much for the kind words! I also appreciate the comps, sort of along the lines that I was feeling but this is nicely tabulated in one spot. I am very much on the fence - love the car, spec, etc. Just have not been driven as much in the last couple of years due to variety of reasons... life gets in the way sometimes. In any case thank you again!
