Here's a car in Austin that has a million questions. Engine is supposedly done by 911 Design near where I live.
It's a 2007 GT3 ugraded to "GT3RS 4.0" as they claim

Such slim pickings, I'm starting to get a bit discouraged at my own prospects in late spring.

This is what it used to look like not so long ago.

I think Porsche buyers are way too picky and some good cars are left behind for no real reason at all.

I buy my cars to use and not to be garage queens. I don't mind purchasing a car that had a panel repainted or a few overrevs range 3 and under as long as the car was professionally repaired and well priced. That's my take on this issue.

You're exactly right, these cars were designed to be driven on the track. I would be really surprised if anyone does. They are only cars, if you don't flog yours on the track you have no clue what you're missing.

I agree and perhaps to add color to my slim pickings comment earlier, the cars that are available even with their flaws don't seem to be priced appropriately. I'm by no means an expert of the GT3 market but the ones remaining that have been sitting appeared to be overpriced based in my casual observation over the last year. For me I definitely would consider a higher mileage car and even one with some professionally well done repair (nothing excessive) as robo mentioned.

I think a lot of people have a lot of spare cash right now, No vacations, air travel, hotels, food and bar, spa days, tours, shows, all that stuff adds up. People aren't buying expensive work suits. Less money spent on gas. Sprinkle in stimulus money, 36% of which is being banked, fat 401K's, and housing prices going crazy, The vast majority did not lose their jobs, and they are doing home improvements and the guys want a car. Or a stereo. Our business shot up like a rocket. I'm friggin beat, and so are my employees. At 10am I peeked in on our phones and there was already 10 voicemails left by customers that could not get through to a salesperson. We're a big Klipsch dealer and I heard today their sales numbers doubled in 2020.
Hmmmm... People spending money like drunken sailors. I've heard this tune before....now what was it?

This usually ends very poorly. As much as I really want a 997 GT3, I’m just going to be patient for now and wait till exactly the right thing comes along. Hard to justify paying 25% more in many examples above.
I called one of the dealers on one of the nicer GT3s listed above. It sold for 104k last November, he wants 120k now. I asked what justified the price increase and if any improvements or service was done - he said nothing was done since, and with a straight face he also said the prices of 997 GT3s keeping going up because “they’re an investment”, so I should buy now before they go up even more. Yes, because GT3 prices increases of 15% every 3 months is perfectly normal...

The other thing to consider is that, at some point, we are all likely to sell for one reason or another. Selling one of these vehicles is a LOT easier when the "stories" are either limited - or non-existent. And I'm not talking about "maximizing profit" on any potential increase in value. I'm strictly talking about time on the market. A "no-stories" example is going to move much more quickly than an example with "stories".
