Regarding comments from yesterday on what sort of car to buy, whether one that needs some work or a minty example, I think largely comes down to your personality, budget and use.
When I was in the BMW and Audi community, few cared about paint work for instance. DME reports don't exist either. So two of the biggest considerations with Porsche's are something most owners of those brands don't even consider. I think that in many ways, ignorance is bliss. Specifically that the people probably enjoying their cars the most have no clue what a paint meter is or a DME report is, they just want to drive and enjoy their car. If you ask your average car guy what a paint meter is, I don't think they would have any idea.
However, when I started getting into the Porsche community more, all you hear about are the things that current owners of these cars considered when they were buying theirs. So years ago when I started shopping I heard about this DME report thing. I had no clue what it was. But I knew that you wanted a lot of 0's on the report. With paint meters, I had heard about them back in 2012 or so and actually was looking for an excuse for a road trip down to Esoteric detail and asked if they could paint meter my car for me. But outside of that, I had no clue about why you should care if a car was original paint or not. I thought that was for the classic car guys looking for that all original example. Not for the person that has a new car and wants to enjoy it and drive it. I figured in many ways, a repaint was a good thing, because the car would look like new again if you went to the right guy. Now I do understand that a paint meter is a useful tool to judge what the cars history is like and if there is something that happened to the car that is not on the Carfax (which happens all of the time, take the red 50k mile GT3 that went into a tirewall as an example). As much as I don't like to admit this, I think that when you enter the Porsche community, you have to start caring about these items that others look for. Reason being, if you paid full clean DME and no paint work retail price for a GT3 but later found out it had range 5 over revs and it has paint work, that car just took a $10k hit? Something like that. So there's nothing wrong with buying that car, you just have to account for it in the price. If you're like me though, you also want to know that if one day you did decide to sell your car, it would be slightly easier to sell. I think that's where buying a no stories car does help, or buying a car with a documented story. For instance, Switchcars had a white RS later in the year that was on BAT earlier in the year, guy bought it on BAT, had someone sideswipe him, everything is documented and you know exactly why the car has paintwork. I think most can sleep better at night knowing what the cause was for the paintwork rather than the unknown. We all tend to fear the unknown and I think that translates very well over to cars as well.
Either way, whether you choose to buy a storied car with a ton of miles, range 6 over revs, replacement motor that has been imported with a scratched out vin, or whether you buy a minty delivery mile example, just pay the right price for it and understand what you're buying. We're all in this for the same reason, we like GT3's and want others to enjoy them just as we have.

I haven't looked through all the pics on that Pumpkin yet, but from the thumbnail I noticed it looked like there was a pic at redline of the car, but I hadn't clicked on the image yet. I am so confused why they did that.

Similar to how many of the air-cooled guys move their tach and speedometer so that they're sure they're always above 3k or so.

Or an Olds 455 like my boat. Funny thing is, is you cannot keep it there lol. Although mines been modified with larger oil drain passages as to not starve the crank which is the issue. Sounds badass though.
But doesn't sound as badas as a Metzger at 6k+
My LS screams nicely at 7500, and I can keep it there around a track....good engine

You know what sucks? Not paying attention to the way the thread loads. I jump on here and start seeing all these listings for RS's for sale - A blue one with Gold, a Blue one with Red....I get all excited thinking let's jump on these...then I notice the posts are from 2016......ugh. Can't just be me.

917 Tach.
Old school thing to do, you will see that on many classic race cars. The redline was not always present on the gauge face and could be adjusted if needed. I though it was a pretty cool throwback touch.

Wow, just spotted the BaT Pumpkin, now at $175K and 5 days to go. KDAWG, go get it!!! Lots of interest from a variety of bidders. Will be fun to see how far it'll go. Likely over $200K, but who knows. It's beginning to look like the Pumpkins are getting a lot of love out there. Are Kermits still worth more?
