When I say with some miles I mean higher miles. I don't want a heavily tracked GT3 unless it's what I consider a good deal. Dealers are looking for 180 to 200k for .2 RS under 5k miles but they are not selling right now. I'm in the market for a well setup GT3 track car. Prefer a white 997.1 RS but that's like finding a needle in a hey stack. I'm in no hurry to buy because race tracks are closed, I could get c19 and die, It's also a good time to trade stocks, all these reasons make it a buyers market at this time. Or nobody knows what the current selling price is at this time for any GT3 because we haven't experienced this market before.

I like this one: https://rennlist.com/forums/market/1188532

I've also bought sold 6 GT3s the last 8 years. Bought and sold 100s of RX7s while tracking them heavily for approx 15 years. Tracked GT3s moderately for the past 8 years. Track life on any car is rough, even the great GT3s suffer from abuse.

There are some great Porsche techs out there). I'm not saying don't take a closer look, but if the dealer is starting off by misleading you on the rotors, it may not be that easy to find out what you need in order to be comfortable on the purchase.

You're better off finding a clean one at that price point anyway. You can get a tracked out one for <$150k all day long.
good data points!

I feel like when the 997.2 RS came out, people bought them not because it was the GT3RS and for the look, but because it was a great track car. They were then used on track. Add to that the potential for additional stress that track driving has, along with some of those cars having engine failures due to camshaft bolts, or the intake bolt coming loose and that will all equate to stories and very few clean ones out there. There are obviously the 500-5000 mile collector cars that have never been tracked, but I don't think most want to pay the premium for one of those unless you plan to also collect. If you want a clean no stories driver with 10-20k miles, that may be difficult to find.

hahaha,... yea J ^^^, you are spot on. And it reminds me of the times that I was looking to buy my 1991 964 Turbo,... which was back in the early 2000's.

I recall seeing, evaluating, & test driving 4 cars before I found mine. Those 4 cars were TAPPED out. They were so modified & "tuned" (I put that in quotes, because some of the "tricks" those guys tried to implement were just sooo off the wall, and really messed up the driveability of those cars), that I quickly passed on them. It also really bugged me that the sellers over-stated the condition & quality of those cars. Terrible. It was going to take SO much work, time & $$$ to get them back to my level.

Anyway,.... the same seems to happen with any generation of good 911,... when they first come out, they are the hot ticket to track, modify, or otherwise,... but then over time they either get fixed, properly sorted, and $$$ spent to have them tip-top shape,... or they go stale.

I saw that car. I couldn't agree with you more. For your purposes the mileage is fine in terms of the lifespan of an RS Mezger. Well kept and has EVERY requisite maintenance modifications you will ever need in the future. It's about 20 grands worth. The seller did all of the right things...

Good points Bxtr.

As Mr Adiar is well aware his old one/mine is in that in between mileage range with roughly 18K on it. I am adding more when I can weather permitting.

More for PTS.

I have buyers but there are very few clean ones out there. So many storied cars. So many.

Yep. At that upper limit price range people start comparing prices with 2018 GT3 and GT3 RS.

Do you really think people are cross-shopping these cars with a 7.2 RS? IMO, most that are looking to own a 997GT car at this point in time either already have a 991 or simply have no interest in their more 'digital' nature.

Good point. I certainly fall into that camp.

But I think people entering the market are comparing them. Buddy of mine is looking to get is first big car and has been cross shopping everything from 718 GT4s, 7.1 and 7.2 GT3s, 991 GTSs and so on. It's a bit maddening, trying to focus that kind of buyer. Some people just want something cool are easily wooed by the YouTube pundits. Hard to blame them.

I don’t think, I know they are. That’s why when the ceiling lowered the floor moved as well.

Fair enough. I just don't see enough similarities between the 991 and 997 GT cars to make them desirable to the same potential buyer.

Agreed ^ This will likely depend on whether or not they are buying their first GT car. First time buyers will gravitate towards the 991 platform (warranty, shiny new object, latest greatest thing etc.) for the same money. As most of us have come to learn from our Porsche experiences the more we learn and appreciate the brand and it's cars we move back generations. I think the second time GT buyer who has passion for the cars (follows forums, has a friend or knows someone with an older generation car generally finds out what they are missing and buys an earlier gen 997 car). Some sell the 991 and some keep them. But I think Doug means a certain percentage of new buyers will consider both cars initially.

I don't either. But we comprise an ever diminishing group of enthusiasts who know what we want and why we want it.

Well...that, and the 4.0 500hp offered in the newer GT3 is really compelling.

https://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-...elievable.html

There was really nice silver 991.2 RS for sale on the forum. Listed for 155 with lots of nice mods etc.... I was seriously considering it and I'm way to poor to own one but the temptation/desire is real or almost out weighed my common sense, it could eventually get the better of me hehe
