For a number of years, instead of swapping to winter wheels I would just swap to a GTR on winter wheels and store the 997.2 in climate controlled off site storage.

But as we got out of autocross (daughter was born), we had less and less use for the storage unit so we downsized.

We have a 2018 991.2 with a pathetic 4000 miles on it in the 3rd bay, the 997.2 in the second bay and the wife’s Taycan Turbo in the first bay.

So I was just so mad at the garage queens taking up space! My wife and I talked about which one to sell and for where we are in our lives, we figured someone else could enjoy the 997.2 more than we could these days.

Ignore the noise. Amazed at the hard time and level of suspicion some on here are giving you for doing the right thing for you with your own car. Good on you!

It’s not a conspiracy.

I offered it to my friend for $120k and while he was thinking about it, I asked here to see if I was nuts.

You guys said I was nuts and in the meantime he said he couldn’t swing it this time.

That’s all. I didn’t ask for anyone to DM me!

@mnawa This thread was like a stream of consciousness for me. I messaged my friend when my Subaru got avalanched because I was pissed at parking outside. I asked for $10k more than we had been talking about pre-COVID. I asked here because I didn't know what kind of autox non garage-queen mark down the car would get.

People said it was worth a lot more than $120. So then I asked the local dealership and they offered me $140 and then my next door neighbor offered me $140. But it's not just about the money. I want the car to go to a forever home. I don't care about shining it up and selling it for $160-170 if it means it's more financially accessible for people in the current condition.

And again, I didn't ask for people to DM me. I would be perfectly happy to drive the car this summer and then store it. Values are just going to go up in the future.

gorgeous car and don’t feel the need to defend yourself on this forum, everyone is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Sorry if I missed it, but where are you located (city/state)? Would love to see this if it were close to NJ. I love my track rat GT3 but lowly optioned so always on the lookout for something better!

There’s this one. Though it sounds like it has a story.

Track rat or not, finding one for less than $220k is unicorn hunting.

Very true…but how many sold under that price in that same time period. I’m not seeing this mini-recession hit the RS cohort of buyers quite yet.

ya who knows - I don’t value these at the current clean car prices - but if a tracked car comes up near prices I bought and sold my last RS for I’ll buy another is all

The days of 997 RS cars starting in the 1’s are long gone. Even ones that have been heavily modded for track don’t even go for that anymore.

well that car above has been for sale for 7 months at 220 so I likely wouldn’t be that definitive

Speaking of 2018 I remember when this was listed and felt mildly expensive. No PCCBs but still think about this one once in a while.

I agree with Doug. And I have read all the BAT verbiage, most of it is blah blah…

I have a friend that that wants to buy this car for his first Porsche. He is a hardcore car guy and we both own some identical other hardcore cars.

A 997.2GT3RS would fit him well, and the SW4.1 would be absolutely perfect. Anyone has seen the car?

some RL input please.
