I don't know anything more about the car than the other posters here. Agree the interior looks a bit rough for the miles. I like the color combo, don't mind the mods, and don't have to worry about smog. Spoke briefly with the dealer and he could offer no records or dme. Said the price is firm as well, so it was a pass for me.

I figured it was something weird. Someone with a Lapis Blue in great shape probably custom ordered it, and it wouldn't be sitting at an odd dealership. It would sell for more if it were in better shape cosmetically and basically stock (although exhaust and better suspension wouldn't turn me off, that is practically required on any 997 turbo). Any Porsche-hile would know that. There was a local GT Silver last year with Cocoa interior, upgraded suspension and exhaust, 37k miles and 6MT of course. It sold for $67k at the Ferrari dealer, and the car was gorgeous. I bet that would still be a $67k car today. I wanted it, but it seemed a bit financially irresponsible at the time. Not to mention the possible jail time for driving too fast.

Agreed, in the description it says it has a Vivid Racing VR Tune.

I have started my search for a 997 and am wondering if there is a way to pull up the original build sheet based on VIN? Thanks.

This one is pretty close usually. The only 100% way is to get a dealer to look it up I believe.

Thanks for the build sheet tools. I'm looking at a 911s and its listed as having PCCB brakes but they don't show up on the build sheet. I really don't want the brakes, I haven't seen the car yet to see whether someone just painted the calipers yellow...

Some states don't require emissions testing

From my experience, the build sheets can be pretty inconsistent from one another. I've seen a lot of wonky stuff like things being left out, redundancy, or options that were flat out wrong before.

Your car may have had the PCCBs added after the fact, but take the build sheets with a grain of salt I guess is what I'm saying.

Also not really preferable because of the cost/work but you could always convert your PCCB rotors to steel and sell the carbon units. Either way, you have options if it's a car you really like.

At one point it had Turbo wheels and hideous wrap.

is this as simple as buying standard rotors and pads and installing them or does it involve booster and calipers?

I am trying to learn how to identify 'good deals' from bad ones. I came across these two ebay ads which pretty much meet my car requirements other than being slightly higher mileage than I want, how would you analyze these to see if they are good or not? Red flags? I see some poor paintwork which would indicate some respray of damage?

So not a bad price. Should be a bit lower given mileage but what I cannot understand is how on Earth that car was a $143k car.
A 2006 C2S base MSRP was $81,400. And I do not see $60k+ in the option list of that car.
