What did you do to your 997 today?
My insurance balked at the cost of OEM glass and my local dealers/installers wanted upwards of $2k for the job so I crossed my fingers and took her to Safelite for under $700. The Chinese glass looks to be of high quality and the seal is properly seated. I found no evidence of wind noise and everything was reassembled properly with no damage to interior components. The installers left a little mess behind but overall I’m pretty happy to have a clear view, my original glass was pitted and had been in need of replacement for some time before suffering the crack on a PCA tour.

FUYAO glass is based in Dayton OH, and its a manufacturing plant. So not American owned but its American made glass. Keeps some of the jobs and money in the states.

Tip: Add a minimal comprehensive deductible or dedicated glass coverage feature when your windshield begins to look "tired",
IF the glass subsequently cracks or suffers damage that impairs vision and compromises safety, get OEM glass at a dealer and only pay the deductible.
With a high comprehensive deductible policy, one is self-insuring for a windshield replacement (or vandalism. hail, break-in, etc,)
Demand OEM glass at no additional cost to you above deductible- it's a high performance car with diminished value when non-OEM parts are installed during a repair.
Grinding you over a windshield calls into question how they might handle a collision claim. Caveat emptor.
Some states ban any auto glass deductible in the interest of public safety.

Free glass on my policy, however careful because you have to many of those in a short period of time and they will put you on a probation.. I have 4 cars two of which get driven all year and in the snow(not the 911’s). when they put all that chit on the roads it’s bound to happen
