I dropped it for dry ice cleaning and now I miss my car.

So I recently bought a 997.1 c2 with 60 kms. Always wanted a 997 and so far I'm loving it. The only complaint I have so far is that the exhaust is too quite, and I'm going back and forth considering whether to upgrade to an OEM sports exhaust.

I like the quite exhaust when my wife or kids are with me in the car, but I wish to experience the louder sports exhaust when I'm alone. Plus, cash is low since I just bought the car and now I also have to pay for service and detailing. I'm also wondering what to can be done with the current stock exhaust in case I go for an upgrade. Can I sell the current exhaust, and any ideas how much it would be worth?

Congrats. I have a 997.2 with Sharkwerks centre and Cargraphic side cans. Much improved. But I have a DFI engine in the .2. DFI is quieter than the .1 engines.

I've heard 997.1 with the gundo exhaust mod. Sounds throaty and great. Definitely worth it. Search here and you will find lots of into on this mod and other options.

Save the OE exhaust if you ever sell the car, you'll have it to put back on or hand off to the new owner. It's not worth selling for what you will get.

I have a 997.1 and love it! On a note about exhaust my car has a switch that opens or closes the exhaust sound. I live in a very nice neighborhood and don't want tp upset folks with a lot of exhaust noise! This is called respect for others. Please keep this in mine!

Received some stuff from TopGear in the UK, was a bit worried because it was cheap but was shipped fast, bubble wrap everywhere and quality looks on point. They even sent some O2 sensor relocators in order to avoid CELs.

I have their 200 Cell cats as well as valved mufflers and the quality has been great. They will turn a nice bronze color eventually. I had the CEL come on but spacers fixed the issue. I'm not sure what mufflers you're running but I'd be curious about the sound with their exhaust manifolds.

I think those are the spacers they sent me. Just to confirm, you only put 2, right? On the sensors that go after the cat.

I emailed them prior to placing an order and asked if they had any in stock because I couldn't find them in their website, and they said to just mention it in the order notes and they would ship them for free. 10 out of 10 so far

I will be running OEM non-sport muflers with the Fister mod. Currently removing 20 years of rust from them with a wire brush, and I'll paint them with high-temp paint once the soldering is done:

By the way @plpete84 , what's that black square on the left of the throttle body? The UAOS?

Yes, I used 2 90 degree post cat spacers and it did the trick. Wish I knew they'd throw them in! I ended up gambling as some folks report no CELs with these CATs while others do.

The mufflers are coming along nicely and should sound great! I used an acidic product called Ospho to remove rust and it does wonders. Just spray on and use steel wool. This is what my old Cat looked like before and after:

The black box is the oil collector for the UAOS. The round diaphragm near the TB is what usually fails in the OEM AOS so replacing it is a breeze now, should it ever fail. This one uses much more thicker rubber for the diaphragm.

I trained my shop dog to sniff for bore scoring.

PPi's welcome- payment can be made by Beggin' strips.

Today I did a Softronic tune on my 05 997.1 C2S. I drove roughly 35 miles today to adapted the ECU as much as I could before heading out to work. So far I'm very happy with the tune. I have a Tiptronic, in my opinion gear changes are more smoother and a tad quicker.
The engine pulls to red quicker and now can feel the power come on so much faster. the torq between 4 and 6k is just awesome. Softronic highly recommended.
My current setup is as follows-
Fister exhaust
IPD Plenum
82mm Throttle body
BMC Air filter
Sprint Booster-
I would love to upgrade the steering wheel to the pdk paddle shifter version- hopefully sometime in the near future. The buttons are fine for now.

Cheers- Sabeo.m

Congrats on the new car. I also have a 997.1 C2S and mine had Fister mufflers on it when I purchased it. I love the sound and definitely recommend it.

Thank you! I just came across it the other day while lurking in the 996 forum. Still undecided about what to do (OEM or UAOS), as I was planning on preemptively replacing the AOS in my 87k mile 997.1.
