Unfortunately, my pic doesn't show it well, but at the end of the row of cars (next to the motorcycle) is a beautiful blue, bone stock 2002.
I'm with you on the 2002. A 1976 Mint Green 2002 was my introduction to European sport sedans. I lhad just moved from NYC to Placentia, Ca.
I never looked back. I kept that car 7 years and 100k miles. Sold it in '82 for what I paid for it ($7,500.00). The beginning of my love affair with European cars...6 BMW's, 1 Saab turbo, 1 Alfa Romeo GTV6, a 996 C4S and my current 997 S cab with 83K miles. Loved every one of them except maybe my E34...It is somewhat strange that I mis the 2002 the most.
That's a nice show room. What was your impression on the C8? I've always been drawn to mid engines, not that I'd be willing to trade the 997.
I saw my first C8 today. It did nothing for me. Once the Z06 is out then maybe. The Z06 has all the right curves and bulges. The standard Vette just looks bland IMO.
So recently I did a trans and front diff oil exchange, and I wanted to post an update. Before I did the work, I searched the forum and read what others did, how they did it, and what oil they used. My car has 83,000 miles, and like many others have mentioned about their cars, I would sometimes have a hard time getting into 1st gear. Today I had a pretty long road trip and had an opportunity to see if there really was a difference with the gears, the temps, and the noise. Here's my update. First off, I have to say that rather than go with the Mobilube 75/90, I wanted to try something that I could get pretty much wherever I am. So, I went with Lucas synthetic gear oil 75/90. Attached is a picture of my gauges so you can see what they were as I drove about 5 hours today. Some have mentioned a change in engine temps, noise, and gear changes depending on the oil used. First I'll say that the difference when going into 1st gear has been night and day. The transmission shifts noticeably smoother, and the noise from the transaxle is so much less than it was before. As for the temps, they never went over 200 for the engine oil, 175 for the coolant. Truthfully, I couldn't be happier. I'll keep track over a period of time to see if anything changes, but so far so good.

Nice.
Out of curiosity, what does your oil pressure gauge read at idle when the oil temp is around 200? What does it read with the key on and the engine not running?
The coolant temp gauge is a dummy. Your coolant temp could have been anywhere from 165 to about 210 and read that same 175 number. If it ever moves up, you have an actual problem.
