I'd love to know the difference between the advertised prices and the selling prices. A lot of cars get posted here/prestige thread, but a lot of those cars get relisted every seven days when the ad expires.

Eventually they sell (some of them) but I've seen the same 2005 Turbo S on eBay for 2 months. It looks like it's going to sell, but then it pops up the next day again.

The 993 forum has a stickied thread with confirmed purchase price only, with a description of the car/spec/history. Would be interesting to see. Maybe the market is flat, but the asking prices are up.

Those results say prices are up and up significantly for low mileage "pristine" cars.

@mbaran, didn't you post in the other thread about how hard it was to find a good example at a good price, as a buyer? And that you spent more than you initially planned? If you just bought, I think you know the answer. I doubt sellers are coming down very much, as they don't have to.

Only because I shifted from the mid-mileage cars to a low mileage car.

Also, several in this thread speculated I should have paid more. I did get a small discount on the initial asking price.

But yes, I was definitely looking to spend 40-43k on a 60-75k mile car, but ended up spending 47.7k on a 38k mile higher optioned car. I suppose I wanted to justify that by seeing what everone else paid

I did exactly the same a little over a year ago. Was hoping to find a nice example in the low 40's, but ended up buying a 38k-mile example for $48k (asking price of $51k). So, prices are flat based on those 2 samples.

It may be more about the top price that most people are willing to pay for a 996TT, regardless of the mileage, other than mileage so low as from a "garage queen from birth." The only question then becomes whether or not this is rational, which it could be if the lower mileage examples are likely to cost more to keep in the short to medium term, because, perhaps the somewhat higher mileage cars have already had their anticipated but very expensive service work done.

But maybe it's not rational at all.

How long did most of you spend looking prior buying? I'm looking for a nice manual yellow TT (strong preference for carbon interior) and it's been a while since I've seen a "clean" one :]

I looked about 2-3 months, but had been looking at 996 and 997 non-turbos, and Cayman/Cayman S's before that for several more months.

I looked for about 3-4 months. I was willing to fly and drive back. Ended up finding "the one" near by in a high end show room in San Francisco at a reasonable price. $42.5K X50, 42K miles Brembo GT brake kit all around, Forge IC and Kline exhaust, no records except car fax, this was 2+ years ago.

Maybe three or four weeks. Almost bought a 997tt before figuring I wanted a 996.

For buying my middie though, I looked for maybe 2 years.
