That's the one of the left head? Seems to be the most popular one to come unglued. That fitting departed my black car and was jb welded back into place by a previous owner.

Yes, drivers side. You can see where it goes in the picture, added an arrow. Actually access is pretty easy for that particular one, though you do have to remove the airbox, y-pipe, and alternator. Between that and removing the PS pump, good access to all the remaining ones sans one.

I wonder if there would be a point to having a thread dedicated to tracked and road coolant pipe failures.

I like the way you are simultaneously indicating the affected part and expressing your frustration.

Have you searched? I seem to remember at least a poll on this.

I recall the same; it pfbz's case, it does not look like a track induced failure, so, to me at least, it seems to support the idea that they will all fail at some point, irrespective of how they are run.

Mine was partially out (same one) when I pulled my engine out. Can't say I'm shocked. No knowledge if the car was previously tracked; but I'm sure it was street raced.

I'm not sure I see the point. Nobody buys one of these cars and drives it like a little old lady. They're glued in, they're gonna fail, doesn't matter if it's street driving or track driving, it's just a matter of time. Now that the cars are getting older I suspect its not really about the mileage as it is about the time...

Been done on many forums ad nauseam. There's no consensus, they all may/may not fail.

There's this one in the 996 GT forum.

And this one in the 997tt forum
