Had a great day over on the island with @sdematt driving his Lotus, turbo and gt3 clone.
Did a big loop up through Duncan to port Renfrew and back to victoria.
I am beginning to realize I work way too much.

It seems that the last couple of years in particular have clouded my perspective a bit.
We went to a place on Saturday called Port Renfrew; Port Renfrew has zero cell service. When we parked, it became very apparent, very quickly, that there was no other choice but to stop, and take in all the nature. Something that one doesn't necessarily realize they need with fore thought, but once it is upon them, it is most certainly something that they want.

Also true.
Made me think that these past couple of years has had a bit more of an impact on me than I previously thought.
Singular focus may have been a little more prevalent than originally thought.

@2fcknfst Yeah, the Lotus is pretty much one of the best cars I've ever driven, and that road is absolutely amazing. Next time, we'll get some Go-Pro's.

Not to take us too far off track, but it's not until I step away for a bit - often behind the wheel with the windows down - that I realize just how much of an impact working through the pandemic (in a challenged industry, in my case) has taken out of me. I don't dislike my work, but my family needs more of my time. And also my cars. Always my cars.

It's interesting you say that - during the first couple of years of this, business was good; it wasn't until this year that things started raising concerns about what the future looked like. I suppose I became more and more embroiled with the continuation of business than anything else. I do not have kids or a wife (perhaps gaining some clarity here too), so it was really easy to just hunker down and get super focused. So much so that when I got to the Island on Friday night and was sitting in the pub having a beer and watching a bunch of university kids having a great time just sitting around and carrying on, I'd be lying if I said that didn't give me pause to question what the hell I was doing - wasn't until we got to Port Renfrew when the literal slap upside the head woke me up.

i love how raw the Lotus is... when i had my MR2 Spyder i bought the 2zz drivetrain to make my poor mans Elise... the Elise was never an option for me because my wife hated trying to get in and out of it... at least with the Spyder i could drop the top and we could take it on a trip if needed.. but nothing beats the driving dynamics of your go-cart..
I never knew I was that flexible.

i'm am by no means a big person... but when i got into my friend's Elise, it was like a baby learning to walk for the first time... he even had a removeable steering wheel to help with entry and exit... taking the targa top off is probably the fastest way but not always ideal...

There is zero chance of me getting into it with the targa top on; apparently, it must be peeled like a banana then reinstalled after entry.
