Assuming these are K24, with agency power diverter valves and intercoolers, what is a good cost effective safe tune with stock injectors. I don’t have to be the fastest, I don’t want to have the most power. I’m always the most cost effective performance type of guy. Thanks

They will flow enough to support 575hp if they are stock.

If they are hybrids, there will be supporting fuel upgrades and they could flow enough to support 750hp.

Do you have a buy once cry once mentality or are you ok with trying to pinch the nickel on a 911 turbo?

After reading most if not all the posts here and on 6speedonline your tuning choices pretty much boil down to these three folks:

Markski: https://www.markskituning.com/produc...urbo-upgrades/
Kevin: http://ultimatemotorwerks.com/tuning.html
Sam: https://www.bydesignauto.com/collections/tuning

If it were my money, I'd be reaching out to each and discussing my goals for the car and what they offer in terms of what you're looking for. I personally have a Markski MAF less tune on my car but that was there when I bought it. Tuning is one area that I feel it is best not to cheap out on.

You can do a basic tune on stock K24s with OEM injectors. Talk to your tuner. Try Marek at 911tuning or Sam at ByDesign. These are the only tuners I would recommend and I've dealt with almost all of them.

And don't forget to factor in a transmission rebuild and new clutch and flywheel...

I have already made contact with those three. I’ll check on the turbo, then the injectors and waste gates and I’ll speak with them again.

Tranny was replaced at porsche dealership under warranty. Car has a different clutch, I believe is Sachs 2.5 by the receipts I saw. It’s a puzzle when different owners did different things and there is no records of it. I also have a different shifter, feels like a gated shifter, short throws but pretty accurate and great mechanical feel.

Yes, I'm just mentioning it because many people focus so much on upgrading the engine power to much higher than stock levels, and don't realize 3rd gear can't handle it, and neither can the tensioning plate or the bearings... or the oil starved 5th gear... With great power comes far greater costs...

How much power can a stock 996 turbo transmission hold?

Depends on for how long you need it to last...

That's a great question, and one that Roger at CMS or powdrhound's mechanics can probably answer with fair accuracy.

Default Porsche mechanics opinions

From a few porsche mechanics and shop owners that go to the events here in the Houston area, the safe or comfortable number I have heard both about the engine and transmission keep it below 600 hp at the crank. Don’t know what you guys have seen heard etc. I think the big equalizer is the driver, on my first Porsche event last year the 2021 Concourse de Elegance at Kemah, Texas. I was driving the 99. I met this guy Vp at shell that had a black 03 turbo. He was the original owner the car had 159,000 miles. All fvd mods and still had the original clutch. Then I heard about guys that burn a clutch in 30,000 miles. Anyway according to the owner the car was making close to 700 hp.
To the person with the turbo if you are on this forum please reach out, now I got one too.

Pretty impressive car at the show. That guy owns a few high p cars.

The turbo I was talking about. If you still have the car and are here on the forum please reach out, we can go out for drives etc. The other cars on the side were also turbos, I’ll like to meet up with you guys.

This concourse de elegance at Kemah Texas is the best event here in the lone star region chapter of PCA, if you guys from other cities in Texas have an interest that will be the event to drive to. Both years 21,22 it has been in March.

I was driving the 99 still with dealer paper plates and only three months of ownership.

The trans is pretty stout if taken care of and not throwing stupid power through it. Should last a very, very long time @ 500hp.

Yes, that was most certainly the more expensive of upgrades undertaken.
