My newly acquired 2003 TT came with an Escort SRX stealth install (complete with external speaker and mute button, and LED indicator), but wasn't working. I suspected either the display module or interface box, so found one of each on eBay for cheap.
It was the interface box that had failed. Everything works as intended now. The SRX is an old system - older than even the 9500ci system in my 957 Cayenne Turbo - but will do the trick for where I live and drive.
Just in case, I also installed the hardwire kit from safe-n-sound.com for my Uniden R7.
Mine came with a similar Escort, but with the laser jammer version; seems to work ok, but has been augmented with a new Escort Red Line windshield mount.

To be clear, my SRX install does have the laser shifter ("jammer") setup. Laser isn't used in my neck of the woods, though, so I can keep it off (mostly).
It sounds like you kept the old Escort as well? What model is it?
Seems like every used 911 I've ever purchased came with some variety of built-in radar or radar/laser system... They all kind of suck IMHO, way to noisy, little discrimination and all have been de-commissioned.
I run a V1 (some gen 1, some gen 2) in all my cars coupled with V1-driver software on my iPhone. Just had an extra G1 from when I upgraded the 991 to a G2, hardwired it into the new Bronco as well.

The ZR1 I believe; I have the new laser/radar Escort built into the 991 - it is light years better than the one on the 996.

Is the Bronco that quick? I haven't driven one yet, but I was somewhat under the impression it was very truck like and not terribly quick.

I hear you on the hardwired built-in radar/laser systems. They tend to not age well and become a PITA to remove later. I too run a Gen 1 V1 with a blend tec mount and hardwired to the overhead lights. I've been looking at upgrading to the Gen2 recently. How do you like the Gen2 and is the V1-driver software really a value add or just a gimmick?
I'm a hardcore Cincinnati Microwave guy, for many moons. The Valentine, when I picked the 991 up in May 2018, squawked constantly on the drive back to Vancouver - I thought it was buggered, but it turned out that it was constantly picking up the radar emissions form the tts.

To rectify, an Escort built in unit was utilized.
that should have been cleaned up in the latest gen 2 model.
i upgraded my v1g1 as soon as the g2 came out since i had been watching like a hawk when the rumors were out that it was coming.
Can you actually update the G1 hardware?
If so, I did not know that was possible.
It's not physically upgradable... I think he meant 'upgraded' as in 'replaced', though Valentine does offer you a decent trade in credit if you send them your G1, I think $100? I keep the old ones and put them in additional vehicles.
