Count me in as a third who is probably going to take it out on some dirty roads today here in Maine.

I also have a Cayenne - a 957 Turbo - and I've been saying for some time that a 957/996 combo is the best pair of cars to have in one's garage.

(I had a mixing spigot added in my garage last year and it's made winter washing much more reasonable)

You are brave! The roads near me are actually white from salt and the ice in my driveway is at least 3 inches thick! These are the months that I visit my wife in Florida ( smarter than me and retired) where I get to feast on numerous supercars running around the Ft Myers/Naples corridor. Always manage to encounter something special during my trips. Up here, not so much. Praying for spring.

We'll get a taste of Spring tomorrow with temps up to 49 at my house. I'm hoping the rest of my driveway is de-iced by nature as well.

I'm super anxious to get the car out, but it's clearly seen very little (no?) snow. And the Pilot Sport N3s aren't exactly good in near-freezing temps.

I installed a Gentex GENK40A autodimming Homelink mirror! It was super easy. I followed some instructions from Renntech and it was pretty smooth. I haven't had it out at night yet to try the autodimming, but the Homelink part works great! No more having to reach into the door pocket when I'm leaving or arriving at home! There isn't a lot of clearance between the top of the mirror and the dome lights, though. I think it'll be fine, but it's tight!

Well, I told you I'd wash it. Was nice to use the darn thing. ;-)

Looked at an old pic online from DRT a few years back. Garage getting re-done this week then hopefully can get fuel pump, plugs/coils, front bumper repaired (again) /painted, guibo done. Lots to do, never any time.

I installed my new Heavy ***** inserts! I have a 997 shift console and macassar shift **** in my 996 and I put the HK weights in. It feels fantastic! The shifter feels much more solid and less light and plasticky. I didn’t take pictures of the actual install because it isn’t any different than anything Heavy ***** already shared pictures of. They were super easy to put in and I am happy with the feel. I didn’t want to go with an aftermarket shift **** because I like an integrated factory look (and I had this same kind of **** in my former 997 and I loved it and really wanted that look and feeling in this car!) and this took it from feeling plasticky to feeling almost billet. Worth the $130 or whatever it was 😃

Had some spirited driving last night. Still not happy with the rear suspension. Giving 1 bounce and bit of a side-to-side motion.
Going to full hardest setting and I'll try it again.
Funny how after a spirited drive it starts, idle and drives smoother.

Walls/ceilings, insulation, all new electric and lighting, Race Deck flooring, built a storage room over the garage. I want a lift, but really can't fit anything other than a small max jack type. I was gonna re-do the rafters to make a cathedral ceiling but I would wind up with a small peak, not really worth it IMO for the cost. Before, I never thought I really needed finished space, but my last garage was 640 sf of fully finished interior w/ a full bathroom, so I was spoiled and miss the nice space w/ clean walls.

do you have to upgrade to the 997 shifter to put the shift **** on it?

No, the 997 shifter will fit on the 996 shift console's shift lever. I upgraded my shift console, too, because the stock one was floppy and worn-out.

Finished my Unobtanium install and went for a quick run to hear the new sounds, it's amazing BTW.
