Default Cars beers and bourbon

Had a blast driving the “Black knight “ today. Started at 5 am in the morning, wash and detail. Then to the garastisi here in Houston a European repair garage. As always had some good kolaches with a few beers. Bunch of cool loud cars. Then to my favorite watering hole to watch the Yankees receive a no hitter from the Stros a game for the history books. Sneak pick that pork butt is goin on the smoker tomorrow. I found out that the dogs do love ❤️ my car. In conclusion another wonderful porsche Saturday.

The black knight next to a 65 jag, pretty rare car and older than me.

Gt3.

Brand new 100 mile $85k lariat F150 lightning, one is in my future, but not until they take care of the new car gremlins.

The dogs, they where attracted to me they could smell my little 19 year old chihuahua rat terrier.

For whatever reason the dogs loved my car.

Pretty cool 2010 997.2 turbo $100k car.

That Carrera was awesome, ducktail but brown interior and pdk not my cup of tea.

Three Aston Martins. Wonder how expensive the repair bills are going to be.

Bad *** blue lambo, sick sounding car.

Jalapeño sausage kolaches and beers part of my healthy diet.

Unfortunately I saw my Yankees defeated by my second team the Stros no hitter. I lost two drinks to two good friends.

That’s what’s going on the offset smoker tomorrow. Cherry, Apple, pear, pecan wood.

Those look less like kolaches and more like klobasniks

What did you do to your 996TT today?

Alas it was a happy and sad day today...

Happy that my Rivian was delivered today.... Wow, I am just blown away by how good it is for a first generation product!

Sad that one of the 996 Turbos was kicked outside of the garage, but hopefully just for a night or two until i can re-arrange things.

If not familiar, a quick rundown:
835 HP.
908 lb-ft of Torque.
0-60 in 3.0 seconds.
AWD with torque vectoring.
Ohlins cross-link suspension with external shock reservoirs.
Brembo brakes.
(and)
Seats five comfortably
3/4 ton+ of payload.
11,000 pound towing capacity.
15" of ground clearance.
36" fording depth.
300 mile range (no, not when towing 11,000 pounds...)

congrats, please keep us informed about it. Ford was one of the early investors in Rivian, i don’t know how much technology info was shared within both companies. Unfortunately since December Rivian stock has gone downhill. Musk has publicly criticized Rivian and said that the company will never be profitable. I myself have sold some Conoco Phillips, my biggest portfolio position to invest some into electrification. My biggest car position is Ford but I’m looking at Nio and Rivian off course. Tesla I own it in a few mutual funds and off course vanguard VOO. Polestar seems to be a serious player in the field. In my opinion the more electric cars the more our cars are going to be worth in the future.

I really like these things. No way I could ever convince myself to pay $100k for a mid-size truck but it is the only electric vehicle I would currently really want.

Awaiting your review after having it for a while. I have a cyber truck on "order" that I've had for the last 2 years. I think the Rivian looks better and the reviews have been phenomenal

Congrats!

Bronco is history... Cool, but ultimately not practical, not innovative, and didn't come close to kicking anything else out of the garage...

I'd say the Rivian has a good chance to displace either my wife's Q5 or my F150 as the daily driver!

That Rivian looks pretty sweet. I'm almost done with my maintenence and gauge install. Had a leaky crank seal. I shaved down the back of the seal 1.8mm so it will not ride in the groove in the crank. Hopefully it works.

I would agree with you on that; I was very surprised how small it was and the lack of decent power made it a pass for me.

You new electron powered truck looks interesting, I would be curious to know how long it lasts pulling at capacity. The front end is also interesting.

Think I'm going for a gear lever extension to increase the throw on my short shifter which is on a G97.88 box. It's mega short with the standard lever and SSK.

What SSK do you have?

What does your shift lever look like?

I saw one of those cruising around First Friday in KC this month. Had no idea what it was, but it's definitely a looker and I figured it was electric. Nice looking vehicle.

It was a Porsche one, but the shift right didn't fit too well with it, so I got another one my friend had and used that.

The combination of the SSK and the shorter linkages on the gearbox make the throw incredibly short, I didn't know the linkages on the box were shortened too, it's not just the SSK, it's the combination of the two together.

I'll get a numeric if i have to buy a new shifter.

See below.

G97.88, GT2 gearbox. Note shorter linkages.

G96.50, standard turbo gearbox. Note longer linkages.

Yes, those in combination will produce very short shift lever distances.

Personally, I'd choose one or the other as I'm not a fan of a tall(er) shifter.

I have a B&M short shifter with the EVOMS Shift Linkage (the Delrin socket is the key to this piece.) The combination provides for shorter rifle bolt like shifts (very solid shifter stops at each gear location.)
