In all my years, I don't think I've ever seen a Ti exhaust not develop cracks at some time.

I thought about Ti or even Inconel but didn't want to go overboard on what's really just a weekend track car. It does sound glorious and that's all i really wanted.

That is an extra shift boot I had laying around from an old Boxster 5-speed ****. It was not one of the one-piece ones where the shifter was actually attached to the boot, it is separate and that particular **** had a set screw to secure it to the shift rod.

Well, after 9 months of waiting on my EVOMS intake, I cancelled the order today - seems as if they cannot get it together.

That strikes me as odd as Ti can cycle heat very well - I suspect that the temper of the metal has been affected by the welding process, thereby impacting the base metals strength.
Titanium is very strong but brittle.

With a melting point of 1668c, one would think it could handle an exhaust temp of 14/1500f without issue.

After I noticed hairline cracks starting near the tail light screws, I installed the light savers today. Pricey for the material used but I guess some of the expensive is associated with development and producing the mold. Any cheap solution I could have done would have only applied pressure at the screws; and this is the design flaw that causes the problem.
Also replaced my engine lid shocks while I was there. They had become very weak; couldn’t hold up the lid.
Now the car can stay parked. We’re supposed to get 8” of snow tomorrow.

My newly acquired 2003 TT came with an Escort SRX stealth install (complete with external speaker and mute button, and LED indicator), but wasn't working. I suspected either the display module or interface box, so found one of each on eBay for cheap.
It was the interface box that had failed. Everything works as intended now. The SRX is an old system - older than even the 9500ci system in my 957 Cayenne Turbo - but will do the trick for where I live and drive.
Just in case, I also installed the hardwire kit from safe-n-sound.com for my Uniden R7.

Have you seen ultimatemotorwerks.com? Go to the BLOG tab. Kevin has a real good DIY on repairing tail light flanges. I tried it and 2 years ago and it is still holding fast.
