Probably 100 pounds in a full tank of gasoline.

My understanding is that Porsche's claimed weights are for "wet" (full tank of gas.)

"wet' doesn't typically mean a full fuel load. It means fully operation with coolant, oil, other fluids, and a small amount of gas. I can't say that is exactly how Porsche defines wet, but it is fairly common in the industry to be done *without* full tank of gas.

Installed the 997 Turbo rear brake ducts yesterday. Today I'm going to start the paint correction/ceramic coating. Probably won't get it all done, will take my son and his friend to the pool in the afternoon. So if I get the car washed and clay barred today I'll be happy. Then next friday I can rewash the car, compound, polish and ceramic coat it.

Adams Polishes. I washed and clayed the car today, then taped it off so I could compound it with the DA. Only to find Adams didn’t put the compound or polish in my box! Doh!

Guess I’ll be rewashing and taping the car this Friday when I actually have the compound and polish so I can finish the job

Finished up today, so complete process was wash the car with foam cannon, clay bar, compound with DA, polish with DA, then ceramic coat. Used all Adams Polishes gear, took me about 7 hours to complete it all.
Results are great! Car is super smooth, very clean, nicely reflective.
Here it is after compounding

Here it is after polishing

Here it is after ceramic coating

Hard to get a reflection with silver, but I got one!

That looks very good - it has a neat feel to the tips of the fingers when done, I plan on adding another coat to mine this weekend - very, very time consuming.

Looks great Doc, I have recently compiled all the tools to do this as well but haven’t had the time yet to get it done... Looking forward to the end result though once I do get it done 🙂

Thanks Mike and 2fcknfst. I bought all the detailing stuff as a 50th Bday present to myself. Used Adams Polishes because they're a local company. I ordered the black light from them today, you can't see the ceramic on the car with a darn and apparently the black light makes it visible so you can tell that you've got full coverage and then have removed it all

Can you elaborate on how the black light shows the ceramic coating? I could switch my bulbs if it makes a difference...

I think it's an Adam's polishes thing... They add some UV dye to their ceramic coatings so that it can be seen under a UV light, kind of like how AC leak dyes work. I don't think the uv light will do anything to visualize other brands of ceramic coatings.

The wheel is cool... Just looked at their website. How long did it take for them to make it to your specs or did they have that particular one in stock?

I scored a set of 996 GT3 calipers for a trade of OEM calipers I purchased that were rebuilt I was going to swap. They need to be refreshed, but basically a free swap, I am pretty damn stoked!
