So of course a full rebuild with all the normal stuff plus Pauter rods, ARP/Raceware studs, Cometic headgaskets and fully ported & polished heads.
Should be fun once it's done.

Finally got time to do my GT2 wheel upgrade. Installed the shorter GT2 brackets for the rear wheel-housing liners, the GT2 liners, and the GT2 rims. Very happy with the upgrade; wider tires, particularly in the rear, look fantastic. A quick drive on the upgraded width and new rubber eliminated any doubts about the worthiness of this upgrade.
I also did my first oil change (coming up on my 4-month anniversary with my car). Replaced all of the drain plugs with factory new ones, and new factory sealing washers as well. Torqued everything to spec (noting torque spec error in the "996 Companion" book). Slowly, but methodically, I'm bringing my car up to a fully-maintenanced level after less than stellar maintenance by the PO. Still have some more fluids to take care of.

Burning Brakes
Took off front bumper and cleaned out a metric asston of leaves and other debris. I'm blown away how much crap gets held in there. Now I'm replacing both of the radiator fans with $80 ebay specials... hopefully my a/c will work better while not moving now.

Light Savers and new air filter installed (the old filter wasn't terribly dirty but it looked old, and I hadn't changed it since buying the car 18mo ago.
