I usually let it drain while checking out the underside and sucking some fresh fluid into the calipers. Even in a hurry I get 8.5qt of new oil in and change it often.

Next time I drain it, I'm going to send it out for analysis, have never bothered before but am curious to see what, if any change there will be in a year or so.

always doing lots of maintenance and upgrades(and repairs on others'), but IIRC just had my GT2's first 'failure'...micro switch in the driver's door latch...new latch assembly(was not worthy of rebuild, plastic wear surface bad) and off to the races again...

I was lucky to score some Michelin tires today, 245/40/18 PSS & 315/30/18 PS2, they fill out the guards very nicely.

Default What did you do to your 996TT today?

I replaced the driver side window regulator. It wasn't difficult but it looked very intimidating. The boxster video on you-tube is not a good representation for how to do it in a turbo. The airbag and Bose speaker make it a little bit more complicated.

I was lucky I had the regulator in my parts stock after purchasing a new gen porsche regulator on eBay for $50 earlier this year. Now I need to find a passenger side regulator.

I need to open it up again and adjust the back of the window up 1/8th ". I marked it with tape but still a tad bit off. Also need to replace 3 door clips.

Overall it took 3 hours to complete the job, I can prob do it in half the time now. Dissasmbling the door carefully took me the most time.

I love the idea of having this done in preparation for when that day comes. Where did you source all the OEM parts? New or used? Perhaps a "pay it forward" type program can be started where when you replace your "blown" originals, you could sell them as a whole package for someone to purchase and have them welded in prep for D-day.

The picture with the spoiler up is the before the install. The picture with the spoiler down is shortly after the install.

Ride quality is good. Not harsh at all IMO. Seems well balanced to me.

All cleaned up, fresh oil and brake fluid, Cobb AP with Sambo's tune, camera mounted, lap timer set up, top the tank off with 100 and I am ready to go tomorrow morning in the intermediate group. Weather it going to be perfect 60s to 70s.

Jason - So have you had any 'while I'm in there' moments and added any upgrades? Or are upgrades the reason for the rebuild?
