Thanks to GrilledTuna on here I was able to to fix my window not staying dropped issue with a cheap VW latch. I mated the Porsche electronics housing with the VW mechanicals and soldered the new latch rotary switch to the old red and blue wires. $12 from eBay and the fob and alarm works correctly. That plus the bicycle cable adjuster on the front regulator cable has it all working properly. As soon as I plugged the latch back in the window dropped and the issue with the electronics not working went away. It's not easy lining the door pull lock rod into the latch but taking the door pull out completely helps immensely.
Halfway through my first tank of techron on the TT. The idle seems to have cleaned up alittle bit and i've been driving it around, revving it out but not driving too hard. Hoping the extra/prolonged RPMS have some sort of cleaning effect on the injectors
What makes you say this? There are a lot of 996 GT3s for sale out there. Just like 996TTs the 996 GT3 are comparative bargains.
At one point you could score a clean-ish 996 TT for 30-35k. Most of everything in that price range today is a project car/hoopty that needs alot of work.
Anything under 50k needs work or has a salvage title.
And it'd be nice to be able to find a junker and put it in a clean C4 chassis for a track car.

I thought we were talking about GT3s?
Back in 2010 you buy a clean-ish 996 GT3 for ~$45.

They may have only made them for 2 years but there nearly the same number of GT3s as TT manuals in the USA.
996 GT3s are still an amazing bargain. The price for clean GT3 is about the same as a low mileage TT. You can get "driver" GT3 for ~$85k.
My opinion is that $85k is high for a driver but I don't have unlimited funds. I feel the TT is a better bargain at $50k or so. I did not know they made that many GT3s. They are great track cars. Not sure about low end torque for driving on the street.

$85k for any GT car these days is a steal. As I wrote in my other post back in 2009-2013-ish you could buy clean mid-mileage 996 GT3 for ~$45, that was unreal bargain. Those times are long gone.
The driving experience of a GT car is different than TT. In a perfect world owning both would idea. A 991.1 GTS is about as close to normally aspirated GT car as you can get, but even they are desirable $$$$....

I get that it's all relative, 85k might not be a lot for some people, but for some it is. Id love to have one to track it but I'd also have a hard time potentially destroying an 80k car. I got my TT for a decent price and im very happy that im actually in a 'supercar' for what I had got it for.
If they made more gt3s than they did, maybe the prices would be lower? :P
