I new engine here in Canada is more like 32k installed.

It's amazing a new engine used to be $12k even a few years ago. I remember a member that got his engine for $16k at a dealership including installation and at that time, he felt like he got raped. Lol have times changed.

Our cars are classics now. Would have known that they would have gone up this much, probably would have bought the 2nd engine back then.

There will be failures, no doubt in my mind. Will Porsche release all these numbers to us. I again doubt it. Blame it on not having the ability but I've heard of independent's having these engine failures come in on a monthly basis to deal with. And that's from a low production model vs Honda/Toyota engines out there. Your smoking real good stuff thinking that it wouldn't happen again.
Their **** engines, not performance engines, not built to track and not built to be driven in all climates in all weather conditions. Their best driven under warm weather, garage kept queens that don't see the driving that the old ones were made to do. Outside of perfect conditions and the failure rates sky rocket. Sorry as much as I love Porsche and what it used to stand I am no fanboy and know when I have been had.

Wow. SLOW CLAP on your silly baseless diatribe. Go away with KrazyK to your own sad world of 996 ownership.

tick tock

How much you buy in this for anyways. I expected my engine to last more then 120k km after paying over 130k Cdn plus taxes for mine and Porsche long line of race victories and heritage. I can see not given it much thought when your entering the game at less then 20k.

Performance driving is another story I think this severely reduces the amount of engine life it does have.
Hmmm, my 2004 C2 that I purchased in 2007 has been driven in all climates, even parked outside under ice and snow the first couple of years, cleaned off and driven beyond the rules of the road on a daily basis (although never been tracked). 86K miles on the clock now and still running very well. Not sure where folks come up with the idea that these cars can only be driven under certain conditions or why some people own what sounds as if they despise.

12/19/2014 Update: Tony's been hard at work. He dropped the motor yesterday, and got it palletized and shipped today:

You should buy lotto tickets, mine did the same for 8 years. Maybe yours will get the same. I expect more from such as expensive car and engine, with a company that promotes their race heritage success and a car that's touted can be driven to the race track and back and beat every day under any condition.

I feel the same way. Even though I have mixed feelings on the engine it self.

my pleasure mike. that engine dropped out so nice and smooth. textbook vehicle cooperation... no stripped threads or rusted/ seized bolts. and i didn't even bump my head once under that tight crawl space. my kind of extraction! best of luck with the motor!

Thanks, guys!

I went over to the shop today, and they are all set for the transplant next week. Once they receive the motor, they will see what all ancillary stuff I should replaces (hoses, etc.). I will definitely also get a new AOS and replace the spark plugs.

Why are you on this thread?

The OP got a great deal on a nearly new motor.
And you want to crap on this?

There is a reason why you have had the miserable experience you've had. It's called Karma.

AWESOME!

BTW Reman motors come with all new spark plugs and AOS...and given the mileage / age on this they're probably pretty new...

If you are getting the whole shebang remans come with everything new except the a/c compressor. I had a charging issue on the C4S and the dealer initially diagnosed it as the alternator, no worries as it was under warranty along with the reman. Turned out to be a charging cable and that was covered under warranty. Sounds like you should play the lotto because itlooks like you win.
