My wife wouldn't want one with an auto trans. In fact she has and will only buy cars with a manual. The only exception being our trucks (better for towing). She has dropped more than one hint that when I get the engine done in my 944 S2, that I should let her have it.

Since I won't be the first to go "off topic" here...
This is my wife, in action, in Stu at a RallyCross we held at 944Fest a few years ago.

If you look at the old VW beetles , some had a Auto stick’s, and if you look at all the bugs for sale 80 % of the Autos don’t sell as well, funny VW just welded the clutch and brake together and slapped some rubber on brake pedal. maybe TIPs will be pretty much like the Auto Sticks in the future ,but you never know.

We are seeing more tips than ever before.
Lots belong to new owners... Mostly Millennials that never learned how to drive a stick.

Back during the recession days, we did 7 Tiptronic engine builds in a row. The only people that still had money were the older, retired folks, and they were fixing the engines when they failed. Over a period of 3-4 years, we probably didn't have a single purchaser less than 60 years of age. Today we have people specifically looking for tiptronic cars. The transaxles are bullet proof, they take neglect, abuse, and power very well.

I have a tiptronic 993 that my wife drives, she has issues with circulation in her left leg, so I built a 3.9L, 400HP engine for the car, and it screams.. Its the only "automatic" that I own, and it stomps pretty much everything else in the fleet.

@Flat6 Innovations might you have a build thread or info to post in the 993 forums?

No thread. I don't need to hear opinions about how the other guy that lives in his parent's basement, with his vaporware 993 would have done it differently.

Jake, You have accurately and succinctly described over half the posts on internet car forums....including the 996 forum

Between basement dwelling tribologists, correspondence school IMS bearing mechanical engineers, and excel spread sheet data scientists we should have enough brain power on this forum to solve world hunger, achieve world peace, and make the perfect grilled cheese sandwich. Instead, we have the same old posts on the same old topics that eventually devolve into someone angry at Jake for making money, some people upset these engines can’t be rebuilt for the costs of a 350 “chebby”, and newbies getting screwed because the seller lied about the mechanical condition of the 996 that they just bought (without getting a PPI).

That being said, I love this forum!

Red isn't normally my style on 996s but it's nice to see a non silver TT.

And that's coming from a silver 996 owner.
