Today's Craigslist Finds...

Would you agree that in 10-20 years from now, less people will even know how to drive a stick? So, an automatic might be more desirable to the masses down the road.
I love rowing through the gears but I may not enjoy it all the time down the road when I'm 70+ years old...You point of view suggest you're much younger than I.

I started him on a manual at 10. Now he can down shift like a pro at 11. Got him a 66 beetle Baja He won’t need a TiP

well since this thread has taken a turn that has nothing to do with Craigslist finds or 996 FS opportunities,.... I'll bite...
My 2 kids had an entire car built before the older one turned 16 & had a drivers license (yellow '69).... son first learned stick on my red 68' Muncie 4-Spd at the age of 13.
Porsche's were too expensive for their pocket books at the time. (they each paid $4K out of their own for the yellow '69 w/ no motor/trans & missing a lot. Got it done in 1.5 yrs so they could each drive it their Sr yr of High School)
so yea, there are still young kids out there that are manual shifters....

My daughter, Ava is 8.. she started driving my old 1962 Cub Cadet tractor when she was 6.. Now she drives it with ease, and has graduated up to my M274 Mechanical Mule. Her legs are a little too short for her to drive most other cars we own, but I plan to get her in my Autozam AZ-1 in the spring. We also have a Japanese mini truck that she drives, which is a manual. She fits it perfectly.
At 8, she has already built engines, and she spends 3-4 hours per day in the shop. She’s finishing her first 914 engine, now..

Prior experience.
This comes with a big YMMV but I have not had a good experience with a car purchased from this dealer. plenty of band aids where actual repairs were needed and cheaper parts used vs advertised. A current example is the front CV joint. It’s wobbly and needs replacement, no big deal. But I looked back at the records and they had their shop put a cv boot on the same side that I am now having to replace. That was a few thousand miles ago so I think there’s a reasonable chance the joint was bad and they just put on a new boot with some grease to get it out the door. That’s one of about 15 things I have fixed or will fix. Bring on the PPI comments, they are deserved. But so is one for anything sold by this dealer.
Just saw this on Craigslist for anyone looking for a very cheap 996 with a recently rebuilt engine. I know nothing about this other than having read the ad but thought it might be interesting for someone here:

I have a 1999 Cab with a good engine and a salvage title (and tip) that I got cheap as a driver.swap engine and bits and pieces and have a good manual Coupe. 800 miles is just not in the cards right no .

Gotta say, I woulda sat here with my popcorn on this one. It’s such a subjective convo, it’s almost comical that folks can be so impassioned on the topic. I wouldn’t own a tip 996 (I’m one of those guys that owns several “save the manuals” shirts) but they are great cars and one of the best AT of the era. Love em? Great. Think they’re inferior? Cool. Your all right as there isn’t a “right” answer to that one.
