Driving back from Quebec yesterday and refueled in MA. A lady asked if my 996 is a hybrid because she has never seen a fuel tank in the front of the car. I confused her more by saying that the engine is in the back...

Just tell her thieves stole the engine so you just coast from location to location.

I love that one!

I had a co-worker the other day at work do the same thing... I opened the truck and he walked by and looked real puzzled...I said "I left the motor at the shop today to get some work done on it"

then laughed

I put fuel in the car because I like to "PUMP IT UP."

so I put together a handful of clips onto one quick video regarding the differences in where to shift on one section of the track and the price you pay for messing around too much....and the rewards of being able to compare apples to apples.

as usual comments welcome

Here's my best one yet. I was running errands in my 911 TT. At one of my stops. I was pulling in just behind a new SLK AMG. The are two spots up front, and the SLK AMG pulls into one and I pull into the other.

I look over ath the driver of the SLK is a mature gentleman like myself, and his companion is a not so mature young woman who was quite attractive.

We all get out and she starts oohing and aahing over my car. Then she starts rubbing my arm and the like.

I could see the steam coming out of the other old farts ears. I almost asked her if she wanted a ride, but then thought better of it. At my age, I could break a tooth or something.

It was pretty funny though.

a little Long winded.

started on Sunday. Oldest daughter needed a ride back to Kelowna, approximately 400km from Vancouver. Started on the north shore at the Chevron station on the parkway for the locals that know.

Filled up with 94 octane like always, reset the trip like always, reset the average fuel consumption and the average speed.
On to highway one east bound up to highway 5 then on to the okanogan connector east bound. We wanted to make some time so thats why the trip on the highway, very nice road btw, couple of spots pretty rough from winter.
Made it outskirts of Kelowna 3hrs 20min. average fuel consumption 9.3liters / 100 kilometers. average speed 126 kph.

Left Ktown 08:30 Monday morning, again topped up with 94 at the Chevron ran the car through a touch-less car wash and headed home.
This time down highway five to Princeton then through manning park, nice twisty road highway 5 is, very nice in fact.

Again returned 9.7 liters per 100k with a 107kph average.

Thought the fuel mileage was pretty darn good, I drive pretty conservative but don't entirely ***** foot it.

No hassles from the constabulary, mostly clear roads.

then... nothing happened....aside from a smile on my face and a bug splattered front bumper.

Thursday afternoon; 4:30 pm, Interstate 90, I'm headed eastbound from Seattle (so....traffic is mostly 75 mph in a 60 zone, comprised of commuters trying to escape Seattle before the heaviest traffic begins....aggressive traffic; lots of sudden lane changes....)

On the east bridge of Mercer Island, I'm in the right lane, heading for an exit when the car in front of me fish tails, brake lights on, almost comes to a complete stop in the middle of 75mph traffic. I'm waiting for the giant crash behind me and whiplash....but the car behind has screeched and avoided the rear of the 996.

As cars swerve to get around the obstruction, in the right lane doing 45 mph (not an exaggeration)...is an Asian family in an 80's-something Honda Accord.

All seats in the car are filled. In the rear window, driver's side, obstructing most of the rear vision is a sign, made from a laser/ink jet printer that says, "Student Driver."

As I pass, seems like a young teen in the driver's seat; Dad sitting in the front passenger seat; Mom, grandmother & young sibling in back.

Really made me think about how much we know and what we think is right depends on our reference group.

Emphathized with the young driver. So many things wrong with this picture. I assume they survived the training event they created....but not by much, given the traffic. Yet....another perfect driver being taught by equally talented drivers with high skills.

Just puts the PCA's Drivers Skills/DE events to shame.
