we had a very cool and wet summer... never really did anything so this is a nice treat... the 8 months of non-stop rain are surely only a month away or less...I think I will drive the new car if it snows this year so I can compare the 996 and the 86' handling... need to find a set of snow tires/wheels always something sucking my money !!

I had a kid lean out of a school bus window at a stoplight the other day and shout "Nice car!"
As to the Seattle rain- these cars are fun rain or shine, why would a little water matter? Sure, it's nicer with the top down, but it's not like it will melt in the rain!

true, I actually think of porsche as a great weapon to drive in adverse conditions.. the weather is no match for these great cars... but the sun feels good, i almost dried out

I see Jason Tang pics... have you met him... drives a blue turbo lic# ATOMIC - really really nice guy, hangs out on 6 speed in the NW region... that looks like a shop those guys would use...not really my cup of tea

The other day at the gas station, I was filling up and some guy asks, "Wow! Beautiful car - what's the retail on that?"
I say, "Now, or when it was new?"
He says, "It's not new?"
I reply laughing, "No, it's a '99 - but eleven years ago, it was $80k; now it's somewhere in the high teens."
He says, "I think that's a good deal!"
I leave him with, "I thought so too."

My 7yo was busy counting his savings last night. When he was done, he came downstairs and announced "I have 133 dollars and 77 cents - how much more do I need to buy your Porsche?" - I guess he noticed the for-sale ad. Looks like he is on the right track

My 8yo is doing the same thing... except he really really wants my old '94 V6 Camaro. He's helped me quite a bit replacing the headgasket and doing other work on it, so I think he's got legitimate dibs, but I was only fixing it up to sell it and there's no way I'm going to hang onto it another 8 years. He doesn't realize I'm doing him a favor by selling it... That said, I think it would be a great car for a kid, though- good safety, fast looking, enough power to just about get out of its own way, but underpowered enough to keep him out of trouble.
He loves Porsches and has lately been enfatuated with a GT-R he saw at a local autocross, but his dream car is a Corvette. He's at least realistic about not being able to afford one until he's grown up, though. And he knows I'll never let him get one, even if he CAN afford it when he's 16! But if the promise of salary enough to afford fast cars is what it takes to get him through school and into college, I'll continue to encourage him.
