This thread has gone eerily quiet since prices started --- errrr --- no longer drifting up. Anyway. This is quite a piece and deserves some attention, price trends be damned.

50K-MILE 2004 PORSCHE 996 CARRERA 4S 6-SPEED AERO KIT

It's on Craigslist for 50k
https://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/c...698243675.html

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...-cabriolet-23/
This looks like a cobbled together nightmare.

13.5k for a high mileage early tip - prices drifting d o w n ?

i think we may go back to the times pre covid where a run of the mill 996 isn't gonna catch crazy money anymore. it will again be all about options ie x51, aero, interior color, pts etc.

Nah. All porsche prices are collapsing. Be glad you didnt buy a 992 or 991 at top prices during the pandemic FOMO trade. 996s are holding their own. Everbody wants a 996 because its still the biggest bang for the buck in the Porsche world, but buyers are now more discerning.

A british guy I watch on YT did a good breakdown of the pandemic prices
35m vid but pretty good. seems to focus more on Europe/UK - understandably

Default Tracking 911 Prices.

This guy does a nice job with breaking down 911 models. Looks like the 996 is doing pretty well versus the others.

I'll add a data point. I sold my 1999 early build with 60k miles Silver over black with some upgrades. Sold for 38k.

Yep, no question, rising tide lifts all boats.

Remember when you could get a 356 for $50k 15-20 years ago and a 964 RSA for $40k. Run of the mill 964s were going for a song. Not today and most likely the same will be in the cards for the 996. The longer you've been around the Porsche market, the more points of reference you have with the cycles.

BTW - Nobody liked the 964 back in the day. Now everybody loves them.

All you need to have after “Porsche” is RS, GT(x) or Turbo (and to a lesser extent Targa) and the generation is irrelevant.

And your car was done right, so at the high end of the spectrum for price.

I have an email chain saved from 2013 where a friend was debating about buying an RSA for just under $60k. The chain concludes that it was too expensive and wasn't worth purchasing. You gotta do what's best in the moment, but that decision still stings.
