Whoa! Generally BAT just seems to bring significantly higher prices than carsandbids. I know where I would sell, and where I would buy.

Could probably buy this high mileager at a sharp discount compared to the one above.

Every time I look at a 997 auction and I see the interiors I get so confused as to why anyone ever panned the 996 to begin with. It is not aging well.

In my opinion 997.2 interiors are a noticeable step up from the 996 and 997.1 models, but still nothing that says "WOW". Built-in Nav system, hands free phone, and Bluetooth compatibility are a very nice step-up from the 996.2

The aux cable in my 996 also works really well.

The interface isn't like apple carplay, it doesn't allow for video to be sent to the car's screen, but it does allow the car's audio system to stream music and announce Waze directions/warnings. Can also make and answer calls using just the stalk on steering column. I had a 3d printed phone mount made that sits in the ashtray that I use to mount my Iphone so that I can easily see it's screen vs the infotainment screen. It's not perfect but it works for me. To be clear, these were factory options, (#870) "Universal Audio Interface", and (#619) "Bluetooth Interface for Mobile Phone".

1) Buy a beautiful new 997 Turbo for $142,020 in 2007. (That's $200,210k in 2022 dollars.)
2) Let it sit doing nothing for 15 years while paying thousands (>$20k?) in registration, excise, insurance, maintenance, etc.; so now, very conservatively, $220k all-in.
BTW, Carfax has 8 service records by 2,500 miles. That's either alot (fixes) or too few (oil changes). Of course at only 3,500 miles, that could be the original oil!
Seller: "This 911 Turbo was exercised on regular basis, so nothing is suffering from atrophy." Me: Really? Regular basis?? 233 miles per year!?
3) Sell in 2022 for... what? (this will be interesting, but will it really be more than, say $230-250k? The 78 mile version sold for $285k, so maybe?)
4) Profit ? (Say it sells for $250k, that's 250/220 = 1.136, so a +13.6% profit over 15 years. A straight index fund into the S&P500 would be around +54% or more depending on timing)
This was either a bad investment or owned by someone who HATES driving.
What a waste of a beautiful car.

You nailed it. There’s zero point in buying or owning very-low-mileage cars.

Seems to be a few folks that have a number of cars that they just don't drive very often. Happens when you have a primary residence, beach house, mountain house, lake house and city house. I guess they are too busy cutting the grass with all their homes to have time to drive. 😄

All I'm saying is the original purchase and low miles may not have been a thought of "Oh I bet I can sell for a hefty profit 15 years down the line!" but rather, I'm enjoying this car for what it is under my own pretenses and when I'm ready to let it go, maybe I'll break even. I'm not a man of wealth, but if I was, this would be my line of thinking. If I had enough money to own some of the cars that I really want, I'd do that over putting the money into another investment fund. Just like the return on what was spent for a barely driven 996 would have made more sense to invest, but here we are, and here we will always be.

Not always. I know someone who has five high end cars. He can only drive one at a time, but drives all of them. They are well maintained, but low miles. They are not driven in winter. He has a couple winter cars for that.
