Good to see prices coming up.
I recently (2 weeks ago) bought my first 996.
I had been thinking of getting one for the last 2-3 years, but just didn't have the space for it until recently.
After taking several 996s and a few 997s for test rides over those couple of years, I came to appreciate just how nice the 996 is. Sure the 997 has some newer gizmos, and yeah, I do like the interior better, but the 996 is a solid vehicle.
The headlights are a non-issue for me, I love how they are integrated into the front bumper, and I appreciate the design ideals behind them. I prefer the gen 1 lights, but would have been happy with either. (I ended up with a gen 1)
As I am 40+ now, I am at that early mid-life that makes me go buy the car I lusted after when I was 17-18, the 996 is a dream come true. When the 996 was a new design, I saw it as a modern supercar.
At the time, I owned and was very proud of my 1978 924. haha
Let those prices come up, I am in now, and can't see myself not having a 911 ever again.

I believe in being ethno-centric. As an American the USA is the best country, and NYC is in my heart as the best city in the world. I would expect non-Americans to feel that way about their countries. Ironically, claiming the opposite is a covert attempt to claim the superiority of our culture, if you get my drift.

I'm sorry you feel that way.
We need more Americans who take pride in their country. It is what you make of it.

There are 25X the guys in the gen below, as there were Boomer's stalking 993's
But there were only 'bout 3X the 996's made than 993's (and only 500 more 996 Turbo manual coupes than 993T!!!!)
You see where this math is going...

Three Wheelin'
The world is a big place
i travelled to over 110 countries in my career, most places I visited frequently. Most people complaint about a bunch of stuff here in America, what I can honestly tell anyone, with all our issues, we live in the best country in the world. I met a bunch of people that because they went on a one week vacation said this or those other countries are great. I always told my associates and employees every time I was in a foreign country, don’t take me where the gringos go, take me where you guys would normally go. Anyway what I learned is that with all our issues we live in the best country in the world. I’m not talking about Stuff because I saw it on a movie, people told me or I read it in a Magazine, I was there. Take it for what It is worth. May god bless the god old USA.

I've been to 6 countries and I've slept with the same woman for the last 20 years, but I also love being a citizen of the USA, and my membership to this forum is proof of how sweet my life has been here.
Oh and them 996 prices are indeed a-driftin' up! Makes me pissed I want more of them like @Tom Loder !
