AT present the 996 is at the bottom of the barrel. It’s just the way it is… of course things were different decades ago and things will likely change again.

my old 944 is still my favorite car I’ve ever owned and for years enthusiasts didn’t consider it a real Porsche. But you know what? That didn’t affect my enjoyment of the car for one minute

Like I said, comparison is the thief of happiness.

I've owned Porsches continuously for 33 years, all of them wonderfully enjoyed as daily drivers, The main ones:
  • In 1988 bought a 931 ($5,500) with 55K miles and then it died after 7 years with 155K miles (gave to charity).
  • Then in 1995 bought a 911SC ($15,000) with 155K miles and after 11 years the engine blew with 295K miles (sold as a roller).
  • Then in 2006 bought a 968 Coupe ($9,000) with 122K miles and after 13 years with over 200K miles the engine blew (sold as a roller).
  • Then 2017 bought this C4S ($25K) with 80K miles, up to 107K miles now, and I'll just keep going, should be good easily for 200K miles and more.
They were all the bottom of the barrel cars that nobody really wanted. But were all great cars, and I got to enjoy them with very little expense. The 911SC was the least expensive and most reliable car I ever had, and honestly the 996 is heading in the same direction.

So celebrate bottom feeding for the tremendous value we can than get!
So, doing the math, you bought 4 Porsches, for a total of $54,500 drove them for a total of 345K miles in 33 years, and still own a C4s, (not accounting what you got for two rollers and a tax write-off).. . Not bad I say !!!

If you subtract what you got for the two rollers and the tax write-off, you may have actually been PAID to drive a bottom feeding Porsche for 33 years !!!

Could this be a new recent-times barrel-bottom? 2001 coupe with 110K miles on C&B.

https://carsandbids.com/auctions/365...-carrera-coupe

EDIT: Also no IMS remediation and the tires are shot.

Doesn't matter. It's a mid-late .1 build with cable throttle, partial leather seats and rear wiper. Also no door speakers. Will set records. LeMans.

I LOVE that option, the 996 that won LeMans didn’t have door speakers either

My car doesn’t have door speakers. I think it’s quite common to not have door speakers. Any non-Bose system probably doesn’t have door speakers.
