Used doors are cheap, if you ever want to go back to stock. Not so easy to ship, but the door shells are pretty cheap.

maybe that's better suited for Ryan's hotrod build
Those are gorgeous. If I had a blanked panel available like zbomb I'd use those in a heart beat.

BTW - In case anyone was wondering, AC Compressor weighed in at 16LBS. Pretty good chunk of weight to pull off the back of the car.

Good to know. How much did heater blower weigh or you leave it?

yeah i contemplated pulling mine out but decided defrost was worth the weight. Leaving AC for now too, but probably pull down the road.

I went the last full driving season without touching the AC, that was enough for me to shed the weight.

I think the not obvious piece that most may not think about with regards to AC removal is how much room removing the AC compressor gives, it’s a huge difference with regards to engine access.

Im really trying to make the car as serviceable as possible so that will go a long way.

You're a much tougher guy than I am. I can't manage highway drives without A/C in the summer. Even my POS Corrado has working A/C. I can't wait to see what else you've got up your sleeve here.

When you chose to go with the Ohlins were there any other coilovers you considered at the time? Would be interested to hear your thoughts as I'm thinking about buying a set, but am also seeing the KWs as an option.

All the cool kids ran Öhlins on their Evo's and I couldn't afford them then (early - mid 20's). I was impressed at the time with how much better they were than what I was running on my car - a higher end set of Tein and then a DMS (tarmac spec rally) damper. They also held up really well through New England winters and the build quality always seemed like they were on another level, much closer to the Moton's and JRZ than the stuff I was running.

So, when I got old and could afford a set for my car - it was an easy choice, nothing against KW - from everything I've read, there's no reason to think you won't be happy. That said, a ton of people on the boards here run Ohlins, unscientifically, way more than KW - take that FWIW, which may be nothing.

If it wasn't Ohlins, it was going to be a set of JRZ or Motons, but I have that same money problem for those bad boys I had for the Ohlins as a kid ! Now, I'll just have the Ohlins rebuilt at the end of the next track season with a revalve for a more track oriented setup running much stiffer springs and taking into the account the fact my car is pretty lightweight.

Long winded answer over...

If you have not dropped a gearbox in slippers in a freezing unheated garage, you aint living !

A friend and fellow RL'r sent me an OS Giken LSD that will be going in the gearbox.

Some of the people on this forum are capable of amazing generosity, I am beyond grateful to be on the receiving end of one members generosity in this case !

As there are likely to be some ancillary changes that are required with the install, I will be documenting those as best I can and will of course pass along all my thoughts on performance once I get to run in anger.

Interested in the ls install. I will probably be putting one in during the next round of upgrades. Im just not a good enough driver for it to matter at this point. I have done a couple hundred gear changes in solid axles by i have never cracked open a transaxle. Please document so its easier for me..

I will provide the details of what’s needed to get the unit installed.

This will however be the 2nd occasion, 1st being corner balance and align where I am paying someone to work on the car.

It was recommended to me that this install is best left to a Pro with machining capabilities, so that’s the route I’m going.

Boooo. I want to see on an old Bridgeport being unloaded from a trailer with come alongs and pipes.

On a more serious note, looking forward to updates. Does this use friction discs or is this a torsen differential?
