I'd love to see light gold on your car. IMHO, I think black wheels get lost easily on the car from a visual perspective. I like to have some contrast between the tire and rim.
Im not a fan of all black wheels, but I do love black wheels with a polished/ machined lip. I know Ive seen the Turbo Twists in black with a machined lip and it looked really good.
I can either stay with gloss black, or now is the time for change, and I'm looking for ideas for color that would go well with the Paladium Metalic.(light gold)
I have some ideas, but lets hear yours.
TIA Greg
I would take the opportunity to change from all black, it's so played out. Check some of the picture threads here and on the 997 board for some ideas. Good luck with whatever you decide.
I replaced the brake pads, mounting hardware dampers and brake wear sensors on all 4 wheels. Used the OEM Texar pads since everyone seems to like them for normal use. I measured the rotors a week ago and they're still in spec so I left those alone. Total cost $530 (those @$%&# dampers add up!) I also attempted to clean all the years worth of balance weight glue and God knows what else off the inside of the rims and applied a spray wax to them. The whole thing took about a week. I started last Saturday. When I saw how bad the wear sensors looked I ordered some (along with the dampers) and waited for them to come in before finishing up.
Some observations:
-It's amazing how quickly the second one goes after you figured the first one out. First corner on the front took almost an hour. The second about 5 minutes. Same for the rear.
-It's also amazing how easily you can put something in when you KNOW it goes there. I was convinced the 30mm shims on the back wouldn't fit into any of the holes until I did some googling & confirmed the 28mm goes on the top & the 30mm on the bottom.
-I don't think there is a product known to man that will remove all that old glue off the rims without removing the paint/clear coat. The wheel cleaners don't touch it, not even P21S. WD-40 and Goo Gone get about 75% of it off

I use WD40 and a plastic razor blade thingie. Takes a while. Some staining can remain behind around the edges, but I get all of the adhesive.

Last fall I hit a set of rail road tracks that rattled my teeth, and apparently bending one rim near the core. I have 2 front rims on order, and will have them powder coated when they arrive.
So, my question for the forum is, I can either stay with gloss black, or now is the time for change, and I'm looking for ideas for color .that would go well with the Paladium Metalic.(light gold)

@Gregs04.5 my cars meridian metallic. Here is a pic with silver wheels, and a pic w black. I have some bronze Momo heritage 6's on order. When they arrive, the twists are going to be refurbished and powder coated or painted, and I'm thinking a gloss black, as they were (I think) a factory option at the time. But I'm open to suggestions from the forum as well. Maybe Carrera red or yellow, something bold. Since my paint is so neutral pretty much anything will work. The renndecals Carrera decal can be changed easily as well. Though https://renndecals.com/ is down and has been for a while, Chris is still responding to emails at renndecals@gmail.com.
Greg what color did you end up doing? Light gold and dark 'blood' cherry red or crimson would be nice I think.

To get the wheel weight glue off I spray a little bug/tar remover (I use Tarminator) on a rag and rub hard. This should not take any clearcoat/paint off unless someone sprayed it with a rattle can. You'll have to rub hard, sometimes I use a piece of plastic. Just keep at it, it will come off.

Dang, I wish I had known. I have a set of Textar pads with less than 100 miles on them (too dusty for me). I would've made you a smokin' deal.

My '99 C2 left the factory with Bosch plugs and Beru coil packs. Porsche specs both Beru and Bosch for plugs so I guess it's possible they could have used either at the factory.
I designed our wheel cleaner specifically to remove wheel weight old tape.
try it out guaranteed.

Thank you for the tip. I'll keep the Tarminator in mind too.

Ugh! Oh well. I'll see how dusty they are. Someone put Brembos on the rears. The fronts looked like Texar but I notice the new ones have two metal cylinders on the top. Looks like they either serve as a heat sink or a wear indicator.
