Did the gearbox oil change with PTX. Rerouted the engine deck emergency release wire to the very inside edge of the left taillight. Now I can get to the loop with the tip of a key. Replaced 200 cell cats that were throwing codes for efficiency. Replaced Topgear with Topgear. I was in the first group of North America buyers and the O2 post cat position was off, so it took some doing to get things to work right. Price is still low and the O2 bungs are placed better with the later version…no issues with fit or sensor placement. I never replaced these cats before, so I wasted time futzing about going back and forth to tool bench, thinking through the processes and referring to Bentley, RL and Pelican. 7 hours total. I have basic skills and completed everything solo while kids were in school.
I had both bricks loose. Couldn’t tell by tapping them while on the car. I’m not sure why they failed, but I suppose having some issues with oil burn on starts, crap AOS’s and sub-par injectors over the last 5 years and 15,000 miles contributed to their demise. I’m hopeful this set will last because engine issues have all been sorted.
Notes:
1. Bumper cover off! So much easier to access the sensors.
2. You use the 13mm and 17mm sockets and wrenches a lot. So have different flavors available of those sizes.
3. I liked bank 1 cat removed last (left side as viewed from rear) and on first (obvious when looking at the photo, but not so clear when I’m under the car).
4. Have some high-heat anti-seize on hand.
5. The cat-to-muffler sleeve clamps have a square arresting hole that caused me a lot of grief. The big bolt square above the threads will corrode and round off. And the top is very flat and round. Be prepared to saw bolts.
6. I have an adjustable wrench that has SAE on one side and metric the other. Very useful for the O2 extensions and sensors.
7. Cell photo the placement and orientation of the clamps for the pipes. You need to preposition them correctly as you put the cats on.

Reattached the side skirt aero thingy. A few screws popped off and the passenger door was scraping the top of the (dumb) skirt. I repainted the scar with a little wee bottle of model car paint.
One year of ownership and treated the old girl to her second oil change by me. 103,064 and not a spec of anything
in the oil filter. Tried out our lift bars for the first time. Man is that a stable platform to work from.
sounds great. Sound does not equals performance. Why would you guys not do an independent test on a third party dyno showing before and after numbers. I had a set of your headers on my early 996, traded them for a set of agency power headers , in addition to almost a 5 lb weight reduction, the money part, my butt dyno liked this set up better. Your sound video is just marketing, I have a bachelors and masters in engineering and an mba. The marketing guy in the professional mba program hated me from day one because I told him that marketing was someone convincing customers that buying a $50k BMW was great when a $20K Toyota Corolla would do to take you from a to B. Substance please. By the way now Raby, FSI is doing exhaust, headers etc, so now you have another super technical competitor that actually builds engines, bullsht marketing is not going to work here anymore.
Hey Boff, Little bit of friendly advice. I like to park a little further out than that when I go to the mall. Not so close to the riff Raff. On the other hand, I don't go to the mall. What is a mall?
