A few too many “biers” before posting, perhaps.

Great look, subtle with Porsche lettering in grey

Was finally able to replace the AC hardline I crushed with my jack stand. It was relatively straightforward, but had to do a bit of yoga to get the new line in place - it's J shaped...

Did the AC receiver drier too, now just have to meet up with my HVAC buddy so he can charge it back up (he captured the refrigerant for me).

This was the first time disconnecting the battery, so when the cabriolet wouldn't operate and the windows wouldn't automatically roll up/down at first I was a bit surprised. Turns out taking it for a test drive made it work fine.

Anything else I need to be aware of when disconnecting/reconnecting the battery?

Replaced the old faded windshield cowl and gasket.
First I applied a coat of Gtechniq C4

Curious if you tried using Back to Black on the old one? I've found that quite effective.

Agreed. Also found that Back to Black/Black on Black works really well with a Mr. Clean 1"x1" square to apply.

Honestly. Works wonders.

Yes, it works pretty good but it doesn’t compare to new plastic.

You are 100% correct, Sound does not equate to performance but it certainly equates to a more connected driving experience and more enjoyment of the time spent in a car. If your goals are putting on a mod and gaining maximum performance differential, then mufflers wouldn't be the first stop. My first recommendation for most customers is high-flow cats in states where that's still allowed. Why? Well, many of us 996 guys are driving around with as much as 25 years of deposits built up in our factory cats. Deposits are restrictions. 996 cats fail (mine did) which will then restrict flow even more. A healthy engine and exhaust system is the best way to ensure power.

I personally threw the kitchen sink at my 996 (twice in many cases). Like you, I was searching for the magic combination on my 99 to make it a real performer on tired, old engine. Loved every minute of it, and having spent a ton of my own money, my goal is to help our customers make smart buying decisions and setting proper expectations. I ended up with parts (in 2015, before SOUL was even an idea) that shifted all of the power to the top end. I felt like it was a big mistake on the street, but on track the car pulled much harder to redline and my mediocre driving was rewarded with an engaging experience and better lap times. These things are very goal dependent, which is why I love talking to my customers on the phone rather than just sending them to the site to buy stuff '***** nilly'.

Engineers design products, marketers tell the public about those products, sales people make sure customers are buying the best product for their needs. At least that's how John and I do it at SOUL.

Put Soul Performance Sports Cats on my 996 4s last year and they are glorious. Zero complaints.

Headlight lenses are tired, so I figured I’d give this a shot. It’s vinyl, so if I end up not liking it (or Johnny Law doesn’t), it’s easily reversible.

Did you first sand and polish them first? Until 1993 France required all cars to have yellow headlight!
