What did I do to my 996 today?
I let my wife take it while I used her minivan.
I got it back in good shape though...and she filled it up for me!
That was the first time I'd seen someone else drive my car from the outside.
She shifts too d@#^ soon!
Fabspeed exhaust rocks!!!
Her impressions:
It makes her left knee hurt.
It's "hard to figure out which gear to be in."
She did tell me she thinks she "burned out my clutch."
"I could smell something."
It was the second time for her to drive a manual in almost two decades.
"It's hard to get in and out of."
The gas filler is "cool." (automatically unlocks with door and you don't have to pop it)
Maybe next year she will try driving it again.
Saturday fix the fault codes O491 and O492, found leak from changeover valve one to the vacuum reservoir, also took the ignition cover and horseshoe around the center stack and sanded and repaint both with HT445 carbon grey to match. all looks great.
woke up early, threw our boards in the trunk, hit up the coffee shop and were the first at the skatepark today.
after that we visited my bro and his fam. he just got a new wrx(manual). it blew his mind that I bought a tip!
then we drove to a few landmarks in/outside of Portland.
Time to ditch those cassette holders for an upper cubby.
^^ Ha! ^^ Nope, in case you didn't notice - there are tapes in there (see the red dashes?) and I actually play them once in a while Why would I need another cubby?

I did notice that tapes were in there. The upper cubby provides an additional 27.3 hp, obviously. Btw- when I got my car I thought the CD holder was a CD changer. I couldn't understand why a CD kept playing even after I removed all of them.

^^Too funny ^^ Did you finally figure out that the CD changer was in the frunk?(after figuring out how to open it of course!)...
Oh, and BTW - the shift **** only added 15whp...
I don't even have a CD changer. At some point I pressed the button on the CDR-220, causing the face plate to open and eject the CD that was in there from the previous owner. I don't know if it was an "Ah Ha!" or "DOH!" moment. It got me again about 6 years later when I thought I was using my bluetooth adapter to play music but it would only play The Doors even when I selected something else. Lo and behold, the radio was in CD mode and I had forgotten I had put that disc in there. Live and learn. Forget. Rinse, repeat. Old age is exciting.
