"as I understand it, for cars with the factory Hi-fi option(option code: 490). I'm not sure if it will work with the standard audio package."
This is the exact opposite of what the Continental distributor told me. He said the radio only had speaker level outputs and would not work with the factory amp. Looking at the owners manual it's hard to tell as they only list R+,R-, L+, L-.
Those are speaker level outputs (labeled with polarity). You can't feed an amp with them (unless you use some sort of resistor circuit to drop them back to line level)...
Oh ya, and I also brought home the engine for this other guy. If I had it in by the end of the weekend my wife would be soooo happy! This one will go for $17k base cost plus any customizations that someone wants. And yes, my wife is on my rear to start selling as aggressively as I was buying for awhile. Lol.
New front trunk shocks (why are they called that? seems like more of a lifter but what do I know) one side leaky, the other side on it's way to leaky...snapped right out Yay...it stays up all by itself! no more hitting me in the head
LOL ^^ ohhh so been there done that. After being whammed in the head a number of times (that lid is heavy and hard), definitely was time to replace the gas struts. I don't remember what they cost and to me I did not care. I almost felt like car was trying to kill me a couple of times. Did the engine lid strut as well. I used to have to prop it open, now all good.
Viewed it's for sale ad today in the Canadian Classifieds that I placed yesterday.
Being the seasons end up around these parts and it's isolated local I'm not expecting much interest.
Really we're stewards priviledged to spend time with these fine teutonic machines.
Merely eight hundred miles driven this year I'm not up to snuff.
Topped the oil up today after it's fall change for the winters rest.
Come spring a rejuvenation perhaps.

Reason: added from whom I ordered
Drove 1100 miles to Socorro NM, then Albuquerque for the hot air balloon festival and then back home. Averaged 24.2 mpg per miles and gas purchased and 24.8 mpg shown on the trip computer. So either way the mileage was impressive since the car has an FSI Stage II engine. And I was the lead car of 25 Porsches on the drive so I felt it was my obligation to set a "Porsche-reasonable" speed through the mountains.
Finally got to Mid-Ohio this past weekend for an HPDE. Great event hosted by the Ohio Valley Region PCA. Met many rennlist members there, sorry forgot all the names. Great track, great event, looking forward to next year! Oh, also great to see many 996s on the track. New M/L Sport Cup 2 after about 4 sessions. Pic of Madness
