Weird to spend so much on a passion project just to kick it to the curb when done, like the moment it's done and not enjoy it a bit. I wonder if it not being CA smog compliant anymore was something the owner hadn't taken into account, but that would be odd.

this happens quite a lot actually. the owners are about the concept and the process. once it's complete, there's no further decisions and choices to be made. they grow bored - the process and potential outcome are more enjoyable than the final product.

Will it crack $250k is the question. The lack of originality may ironically limit its ceiling. Investment buyers probably just clarify this as a project car and move on. Only reason to buy a car like this is to actually drive it.

993s bought to be driven won't fetch $200k, much less $250k. 993s fetching $250k won't be driven.

Right. No one will buy a 993 with a non-factory 4.0 if they don't intend to drive it. Even then, I think this car will get over $200k.

Agree this car won't hit $250k, but it's in an interesting place. It might be a test of the peak of the "driver's" market.

The list of components in this motor is mind boggling. Is it a 993 motor at its core or a custom one off? The reference to GT3 parts confuses me.

When faced with the rebuild of my C2S I opted to use the Mahle 3.8 p&cs. The only other changes were the cams and a remapping of the ecu. So it’s still pretty stock…maybe a C2S3.8r lol
