[QUOTE=melhechi;19502529]I said Lambda 1 optimizes emissions and fuel efficiency. It's not solely about emissions regulation; it's also about achieving the optimal air-fuel ratio for engine performance. [QUOTE]
This statement is flat out incorrect.

I could not imagine the old guard, purist's reaction if Porsche got rid of the 911's useless back seat and made it a true mid engine sports car. That one would be measurable on the Richter Scale.
I would bet strong money that the majority of the hybrid haters and naysers will be just fine with the new power system after they are familiar with it and the rest are likely screaming at the moon for the return of air cooled 911s.

Respectfully, to those of you dithering about placing an order, I’m not sure what the problem is? As I see it you’ll be covered by a 3 year warranty so the only hassle will be if the car is consistently unreliable and spends too much time in the shop, and/or the used car market in a couple of years shies away from the .2 leaving you with a bigger than expected $$$ hit come trade in. None of this negates the fact that the car will likely be an absolute blast to drive

An item perhaps overlooked is the dearth of qualified techs. With every evolution, as engines become more complex (whether due to regulations or bling) I fear there won't be any techs around to fix the cars. The rush to EV as pointed out above is dangerous as there's no clear evidence that either the infrastructure nor a massive customer shift from ICE to EVs is pending.
While Ferrari stock has surged, Porsche has languished. Shareholders are frustrated as are the "tifosi" eyeing this mad rush to EVs as ever more idiocies like the shaver, digital dash, HomeLink, AM radio delete are added.
You can still recognize the 911 but it's losing its soul.

My local Porsche dealer today advertising new Taycans at $40,000 off MSRP. What does that tell you?

[QUOTE=Tobeit;19502446] I assume that means the variable vane turbocharger design previoulsy reserved for the "Turbo"s since the 997 generation now gets introduced to the base 911? I like that thought. QUOTE]
I understand your thought process but the VGT Turbo technology will not be used on the 992.2 Base. It is quite expensive.

The Base car buyers will be happy . The Base is an improvement . Eventually the manual guys will be happy with a Carrera T . The controversy surrounds the hybrid and is different than the 991.2 was (going all turbo) . Porsche had plenty of experience making street version turbo cars unlike now where this hybrid is not just new .. it's uncalled for . The only reason why it exists is because legislators want it to exist . It's also a transitionary car heading into the direction of all EV .
The government is thrilled but investors are not . They called a meeting . They want Porsche leadership to back off with the EV kool aid because it's not working . (see attached )

Who in the world is interested in EV Boxster or Cayman.
I understand a case for Macan EV but not a weekend sports car that you go out on backroads or track for fun and not worrying about battery levels.
