I've been considering a Cayman 4.0 manual at some point in the near future but have no interest what so ever in a full BEV, forget about that. The mild hybrid 992.2 appears to be a much more appealing vehicle.
Pretty sure that the majority of the Porsche world is not looking for a pig heavy, EV, sports car with limited range. I can see these selling out of the gate to a small audience and then falling on its face like so many other EVs.

Really? EV Cayman will be very heavy and powerfull while the original 911s were light and underpowered(128HP). Not sure what you are saying or comparing here. EVs are just fine and dandy if that is what you are looking to purchase. Hope that the Cayman EV works out for you if that is the path you are pursuing.

As you enjoy tracking the EV Taycan, what’s your issue with a lighter, more nimble EV Cayman? (Genuine question, not being snarky)

If the EV cayman hits the supposed target weight of 3600 pounds and it has dual motors so it can torque vector then it's probably going to be absolutely magical in the handling department. But you can't escape that soul crushing whine of electricity as you accelerate. Maybe if they made it completely silent, I could be OK with driving one.

I have nothing against an EV sportscar, esp. one that is lighter and mid-motored.
I just think there isn't real significant demand for a 2-seater EV sportscar amongst the Porsche hoi polloi, or just hoi polloi at large.
No doubt there is a segment here Rennlist (myself included) that would be very interested, if not at least curious, with an EV Cayman, but I can't imagine too many people outside of Rennlist even care.
Heck, the ICE Cayman/Boxster (outside of the GTS 4.0 and GT4/RS) is like the fake parsley you get on a steak dinner. Sort of pushed aside so you can get to the good stuff.
What will the EV Cayman be like? The gristle from the beef?

It will be more like a 911. given Porsche's trajectory, it's going to be more refined and more isolated just like the 992 and it will be all electric and will probably handle really well with some technology assistance

I am commenting on the demand for such a vehicle. Not its engineering wherewithal.

in other news, Buggati - also in the VW conglomerate - just announced the 4.4M Bugatti Tourbillon. 1800hp plug-in hybrid with 1000hp coming from a naturally aspirated 16-cylinder and 800hp from 3 e-motors. They took out the turbo's to enhance the experience of the ICE but added a whooping 800(e)hp to more than compensate for that. wow.

Joking aside MG is now owned by a Chinese automaker, so hopefully they bring their A game and we get a decent benchmark for the first EV sports car.
