992.2 Info
I believe it could be the S which is coming with the NA, which is why they are delaying it till after the GTS launch.
Unless, of course, the GTS is the one with the 3.6 NA plus a hybrid.
My head started to hurt!
Any high performance version (over 400hp) of a NA motor, and a manual, in a non-GT car will sell like hot cakes on a cold day. If it’s not priced to the stratosphere. And agree, they need to find a niche price point and model, to not kill the base, S and GTS versions.
The 992.2 GTS hybrid sounded turbocharged (in the video Porsche release). If there will be a non GT NA engine in the 992.2 it doesn't look like it will be the GTS. There is high demand for a high revving, NA, non GT 911. I hope they make it. It would make a lot of sense if this 3.4 or 3.6L engine went into something like the Carrera T with a stick... Also I have no inside info. Just wishful thinking on a Friday night!
On the 5/28 release date when all is revealed, each of the prominent posters should self grade your submissions to this thread on accuracy of final product. Especially those that had “good sources”. 😊
We could almost make a bingo sheet of predictions and see if anyone would win!
That’s the thing, I do not believe all will be revealed on 5/28. It will more than likely only involve the models to launch first with additional details pertaining to the other models to arrive at a later date.
So, an S/T lite? Seems the theory of "make limited production of formula people want, then make it standard the next generation" might gain yet another example.
Reminding me of Rolex fans in here now. Every year folks go crazy guessing what they will release. All the “sources” and “friend who is neighbors with a guy who knows the local Rolex AD”. A million guesses and literally NOBODY ever gets it right. Brands like Rolex and Porsche are just messing with you. Come May 28, Porsche will do what power brands do, make all the guesses look silly. Usually what Rolex does come out with is quite underwhelming….they have a stronghold on the market and are not going to try and reinvent the timepiece. It does make for fun conversations though.
that has nothing to do with why they sell at lower premiums. they sell at lower premiums because the car was the only GT car in GT car history that had major catastrophic failures at launch. even if porsche made it right in ever conceivable way, the legend follows the model. 991 GT2 RSs and 991.1/991.2 3RS are also PDK only. they don't sell at reduced premiums.
That’s right, someone (silversurfer6) mentioned that Turbo/Turbo S/GT3 won’t be revealed until next year, 2025.
It’s becoming obvious to me that we are now chasing Ferrari. I think Porsche has to sell 5 cars to make what Ferrari does selling one car. Look at the 296, v6 hybrid, total screamer, 800 hp +, and gasp a digital rev counter. Porsche has to get there if they want to start charging the big bucks.
For those kicking and screaming about potentially no manual Porsche will hopefully continue to offer even if its fewer models. In this world, that should still be applauded.
